Today:
Where's the beef, you ask? King David Dogs, a recent addition to the downtown dining scene, serves up quarter pound portions of it in the form of high-grade, Kosher-style hot dogs. Enjoy the instant gratification of fast food with the satisfaction of supporting local a business.
Best hot-dogs ever. The Chicago Dog, New York Dog, and the South of the Border dog are like processed beef parts and crack. I would rob a liquor store if I ever ran out of money to eat here.
s.h.
I am so disappointed that I missed the free tots day on Wednesday when the guys celebrated their first anniversary. I'm a big fan of the BBQ dog or the Three Cheese. Mmmmmmm.
And, of course, you can never go wrong with tots!
Have officially tried every dog on the menu after today's lunch...gonna have to say my favorites include the Barbeque Dog, South of the Border Dog, and the State Fair Dog... Any place with crispy tater tots, small captain-crunch-cereal ice and take-home cups counts as one of my happy-spots!
When I asked the manager why they closed at 4pm, his response was "downtown is dead after 4pm." Yeah, maybe 5 years ago. I'm sure they do plenty of good business at lunch time, but downtown businesses need to realize that Downtown isn't "closing down" at 5pm anymore. You have residents and visitors at all hours wanting STUFF.
Anyway, the dogs are awesome.. and if you order fries instead of tots you should be shot!
My husband and I usually are not fond of really pink hot dogs. They can taste like chemicals. However, these dogs were the BOMB! I loved the build-your-own dog, and my husband loved his Southwestern dog. It was the first time we were in, and won't be the last. I am looking forward to going back there and trying one of the very EVIL looking, calorie-laden half pound cookies!
When any dog won't do ...
King David's BBQ dog was, quite easily, the best hot dog I've ever had ... at least as far as my taste buds can remember. (The BBQ dog comes with bacon, sauce and onions). And, you've gotta try the Tater Tots (takes me way, way back).
If you're into creating your own dog, they have plenty of toppings to choose from. You can find the full menu here: http://mywebsite.register.com/db1/00021/kingdaviddogs.com/download/finalmenu.pdf
Service was unexpectedly delightful, too.
The only drawbacks: Space is limited, as are the hours, so be prepared to wrestle for a seat if you go between noon and 1 p.m.
