Zest is excellent

As their business grows they are growing. Everytime I go there they change. For the better! They used to be in one little room and you had to order at the counter. Now they've opened a whole new room, added waitstaff, and I think they even have alcohol now. They have a little deli case when you enter the front door. This is where I discovered their bleu cheese chicken salad. It's not on their menu (it wasn't the last time I was there anyway) but they will make you a sandwich with it.
The big favorite seems to be the mac n cheese. It's amazing! VERY cheesy with a crispy topping. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better....I had the blondie brownie. I now call it the OH MY GOD brownie. It's the best brownie on the planet. Ooooooweeeegoooooeeeey goodness. Mmmmmm. Wish I had one right now. sigh

Amazing!!

My friends & I tried Zest! the other day for lunch & it was the best lunch I've had in so long!!! I tried the Baja Tacos...oh my goodness! The Edamame Succotash that comes on the side was so good I think I'm already addicted! One of my friends had the Meatloaf Sandwich with their World Famous Mac & Cheese. Are you kidding me?!?!? No wonder it's world famous!! My other friend had the Cheeseburger. She LOVED it!! She said it was the juiciest burger ever & that the Roasted Pepper Aioli that came with the frites made going off her diet so worth it. Seriously, everyone needs to go to Zest! I can already feel another craving coming on!

Go there!

I was clicking around, looking to eat there today (PLZ open on Sundays!!!), and found this, so this is my first indy.com post.

I agree with others. There're some other notable places like Patachou, Scholar's, Taste, but Zest is the best breakfast/lunch place I've tried in Indy, IMO. It's not that those other places aren't good, but, there're always a couple of marginal items on the menu. Everything I've tried at Zest is spot-on fantastic.

I go for the scones, stupid-good mac&cheese, wild mushroom sammie, and the Baja tacos. While they're not exactly authentic (I've had them many times from the carts on the pier in Ensenada), these tacos are an interesting and delicious version.

If slapjacks and hashbrowns are your thing, head to Peppy Grill instead, but if you're a foodie (I hate that term, but you know what I mean), Zest crushes all.

I have to agree about the Baja Tacos...

The tacos were amazing, and really filling. I always worry that I'll leave a place like Zest still feeling hungry, not the case!

I read a sign in the bathroom saying that they ARE now open for Sunday brunch...is that old news? Good news? Vaild news??

YUMMMMMMM!

The mac & cheese is to die for! Big Fan. Seriously, this place is the bomb. It's a little off the beaten path, but well worth finding. They recently expanded their dining room too so it accomodates for people...which is good because sometimes it was hard to find a seat.

Biscuits & Gravy

The biscuits and gravy have an unusual, but delicious, kick and the gravy has an orange tint to it. Service was very good and prices reasonable. I'll be back!

Delish!

Zest is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Indy! I can't say enough good things about their food. Their mac & cheese is amazing...

HOWEVER BEWARE BEWARE Their service is usually veeeeery slow. I almost wrote "horrible" but that's not entirely true. (They have tried to rectify the problems I've had with them in the past.)

They are generally pretty nice people, but you can rarely get out in less than an hour (sometimes even an hour and a half during a lunch rush). If your work requires a half hour lunch break (like mine) don't go!! That's why I wish they were open for dinner: So I could actually go out there more often! It's very close to work, but it's not practical to go during work unless I get carryout.

So yeah, the wait is worth it on a lazy Saturday afternoon. But they definitely need to open on Sundays and evenings.
