Plum's Upper Room Cafe & Wine Bar

Taste the good life in Zionsville in a cozy cafe where whole foods are simply prepared under exposed rafters on hardwood floors. Plum's absorbs extra flavor from the warehouse feel of the old opera house it inhabits. The Chef frequently offers vegan dishes, but call ahead to check that day's options.

Truly Aweful Experience

My wife and I are true food lovers and went to Plums on the recommendation of some friends of ours.

Atmosphere - Seemed lovely at first however they clearly have a problem in the kitchen with extracting smoke and within half an hour there was a thick haze to the point by the end of the evening all of us were rubbing our eyes. To say we stank at the end of the evening is an understatement.

Food:

Starters: Olives - Out of a bottle for all we could tell with some dry bread. Bruschetta - chopped fresh tomatoes, some red onion. No garlic, no basil?????

Soups: French Tomato - Great color, but sweet corn in it, lots of it, I know we are in Indiana but. Cream of Basil - Heavily over salted, warm definitely not hot

Mains: Crab crepes with a heavy mushroom sauce (seemed like mushroom soup, yuck.

Stuffed Pork tenderloin on mashed potatoes - I had to send this back as the potatoes were refrigerator cold. When they brought it back the pork was raw in the middle, at this point I was done with the meal and sent the back again we tried to leave as quickly as possible.

Booze - Can not really fault this but probably as they had nothing to do with it.

Service - what service? 3 hours for this cavalcade of nonsense. One of the truly shocking pieces is that at the beginning the owner came over and said how much she wanted us to be truly delighted with the experience. Once they tried to poison me with raw pork she was surprisingly aloof.

Truly very disappointing, one of the WORST restaurants in the area, even as a foodie I would go to a McDonalds before going to this place ever again. Avoid it if you want to avoid food poisoning. Oh and it is EXPENSIVE
