Today:
This strip-mall storefront shop manages to be as funky and fun as more prototypical coffeehouses through regular special events and hung art.
I love BJ's coffee... but this place also has local art. Their art show openings are a great chance to meet the artists.
Plus BJ's has interesting & friendly customers. On various Saturdays, I've talked to an elementary parochial teacher, an IUPUI professor from SPEA, and a delightful couple who had just returned from Europe.
They also have a shelf for Bookcrossing.com books... so you can grab something to read with your coffee. Or you can drop off a few books for others to read. Okay, it's not a huge shelf, and maybe you don't like Clive Cussler...Here's a chance to send your books to other readers.
I can only get to BJ's on Saturdays... so I get freshly roasted whole bean coffee from her... I love the 800 pound gorilla.. but the Jamaican Me Crazy is good too...
I love really great coffee and I love tea. Bjava has it all when it comes to my fav. beverages!
I love to go there in the morning on the way to work and grab a scone and a latte. Perfect breakfast!
In the afternoon I drop in for a tea, sometimes English Breakfast or sometimes I have Bj make me one of her chais. She has one she makes from scratch, and it tastes just great.
See you at Bjava!
And I know my coffee. They don't spare quality here folks. Fresh roasted (like that day perhaps?) beans, grinded to order, made by a friendly, professional Barrista! It doesn't get better. Found this place while having pizza in the same strip mall. I wish this place would open more locations.
I drink straight coffee, not a shot of espresso disguised by a milkshake. If you want the best pure coffee in town, go to B Java.
The coffee here is great, always perfectly made and at a decent price. The baked goods aren't too bad either, and the owner seems to love what she's doing. I drive out of my way many mornings to go here, and I don't mind it one bit - totally worth it.
B Java is a small hole-in-the-wall coffee shop located in a strip mall at 56th and Lafayette. The design is low key and has a hard time filling the space. But do not let any of these visuals fool you, this is a definite case of looking under the book cover. The shop has been active since '99 and sells Stanton coffee, which is roasted and delivered every Tuesday. Bj Davis, the shops owner is The Matriarch of coffee in Indianapolis. She has been in the business for 15 years which includes 3 years as a competitor and 4 as a judge in the United States Barista Competition. With the know-how married with a dedication to craftsmanship the drinks are worth the drive, and being just north of the Lafayette road exit of I-65, easy to get to. To be fair I am biased, I am a friend and coworker of Bj's.
in a real cup
must try the bumble buzz.. especially in the morning. i've never had a coffee based drink that tasted so fresh and refreshing, full of caffeine, but, without the bitter taste of espresso. absolutely refreshing.
