Nothing extraordinary, but a good lunch buffet

Visited yesterday and found the entire place to be about what you'd expect at a hotel restaurant. The atmosphere was tidy and crisp as hotel lobbies tend to be with their immaculately designed sterile-ness.

The lunch buffet ($12.95) had a smattering of choices, not overwhelming like a Vegas buffet, but manageable in terms of offerings: about half a dozen salads (pasta, chicken salad, etc), two types of pizza, soups, desserts, a meat carving station and pasta station.

The chicken salad might be one of the best I've tasted in town. Shredded chicken (instead of cubed or diced), just a hint of mayo for texture, not taste, slivers of almonds and grapes. No celery or onion to distract you with their annoying crunch.

The pizza was decent. Grilled chicken on a biscuit-like crust. Not as dry as I thought it would be, but nothing phenomenal either. The beef (roast beef, I assume) was perfectly cooked for my tastes, deep pink, juicy and tender. And the tortellini I had prepared at the pasta station was quite tasty with pesto and prosciutto.

A nice place for a quiet lunch or business lunch where you can actually sit and hear each other talk. Seems most of the hotel visitors opted for McCormick & Schmick's, so 120 West was only about half full.

Overall, a pleasant experience. Nothing extraordinary, but pleasant nonetheless.

Local flavor

I went for an early dinner and the place was almost entirely empty. With that being said, the server could have been a little more attentive. The food was great and I loved the fact that it was all local. I was glad to see that out of town guests of the hotel could be exposed to central Indiana's finest food choices. The prices seemed pretty steep, but in line with other hotel restaurants in the area. I would recommend it to anyone.
