Borders @ River Crossing has better magazine selection
It seems like Northside News is always a day late with the new magazines. I like their lineup, but when I have to have the newsest issue of just about any magazine, the Borders at River Crossing is where I head. But nothing beats Northside News peanut butter and nutella...Mmmm.
Best Cuban Sandwich?
Maybe Puerto Ricans voted the much touted Cuban Sandwich best in the City but not this Cuban! To describe it at best: SKIMPY! No Cuban sandwich would go to a diner's plate looking that skinny in the meat department. The bread used is an approximation to Cuban bread, not bad but not Cuban. Expensive for what you get.

My wife and I dined at Ta Ta yesterday for the first time. The Cuban Sandwiches were delicious. I've eaten Cuban Sandwiches in NYC and Miami...Ta Ta's is second to none. Alfredo is very cordial and the atmosphere very inviting. We can't wait to go again.
lots o garlic
They have great sandwiches! Lots of vegetarian choices, all yummy. The pesto that's on most of the sandwiches I've had packs a lot of garlic (to me, that's a good thing). Staff are always super friendly and helpful! Try it out!

I've got nothing but good news about the News Cafe. When I used to be less busy I would eat lunch here about twice a week. I always find it to be a warm and friendly place - just like a neighborhood cafe should be. Russ from the Mudkids can often be found on the newsstand side. My favorite sandwiches are the Club, but made spicy with pepperjack cheese and Siracha sauce, and the new Le Monde sandwich - only 3 ingredients but oh so yummy! I guess my only gripe is that it is hard to find parking during lunch hour. Also, make sure you have a little time on your hands when you go here, as they make every sandwich to order... but this gives you time to check out all the fabulous magazines!
Has some veggie options Yay
I live in the neighborhood and I appreciate the veggie sandwich options. They are yummy and quick plus what could beat lunch and ANY newspaper/magazine.

New menu just another reason to hit Northside News
If Northside News was just a newsstand, it would still be worth a weekly visit. It has bar-none the best magazine selection in the city. But it just so happens to have a stellar sandwich selection too -- and that selection has just grown by eight.
From a press release announcing the new Northside News menu:
"The new menu includes all sandwiches featured on the old menu, but adds eight new sandwiches, three new salads, and a kids menu. The new items include Der Spiegel Ham, Le Monde Ham, Forza Pizza Press, Everyday Rachel, Red Eye BBQ Beef, New York Post Corned Beef, Rolling Stone Roast Beef, Moda Pizza Press, Spinach Salad, Caesar Salad, and a Side Salad. The kid's menu includes Grilled Cheese, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Peanut Butter & Honey, and Peanut Butter & Nutella."
