Johnny Carino's

The faux-atmosphere strips away fine dining pretense in favor of hearthside-style. Carino's Italian countryside cuisine is comfort food for those who prefer marinara to mashed potatoes.

A chain reaction

Welcome to my first big chain, gang. Carino's on U.S. 31 in Greenwood was packed when my friend and I stopped in for a quick ...

Can't go wrong here...

Great Bread - Good Cannoli. Everything else in between is pretty good too. Had a good salad/soup lunch deal for a while.

For my money.....

Carino's beats Olive Garden any day. The menu is diverse, without being too upity. The firecracker sticks are to die for, and the diping sauces that go with them are excellent. True, it is still a chain, but don't let that scare you away. If you're craving Italian, but don't want plain simple spaghetti, swing by, you won't be disappointed.

Ok but nothing special

Its on par with olive garden, nothing that great by any means. Staff seemed so enthused to be there (not sarcasm) and the food was only so so. Would go to if a group of people wanted to go, but would not recommend.

Had one big problem

Had dinner with my wife, son, daughter, her husband, and her husbands sister who was visiting from Kansas. The waitress was pleasant and helpful. The appetisers and dinner were actually quite good for the price. As were the salad and bread. The kids were going out afterwards for martinis and cigars so I decided to buy a round for starters. The two young ladies ordered martinis, my son a Jack and coke, wife a bottled beer and the son-in-law a shot of Maker's Mark as well as a shot of Crown Royal for myself. I noticed immediately that my whiskey was watery. As was the son-in-laws. We inquired to the waitress as to if they added water to their shots. She didn't seemed surprised at our question and said that she would bring replacements, which she immediately did. Holding the glasses side by side with the new (we had only sipped) it was QUITE ovious that the liqueor was indeed watered. Having drank water and sodas with our meals I could not imagine that anyone could have thought that we were over the limit. I am not one to complaint to management or ask for "something for nothing". I will just use this to warn others and I will NOT return. I spent $120.00 on meals and appetisers and do not feel that they needed to CHEAT me on drinks.

Good lord thats a lot of food

Through the many times I have eaten here I never end up going home without something in a take out container - for the money the servings are huge, and very good as well.

I hope management reads this

Some of the best Italian food in Indy, but they can get a little busy so the service can sometimes be slow. My only real complaint is that they keep changing the soup menu. Bring back the Bread Soup; bring back the Potato Soup and make them available all the time not just on special, whenever management feels like it. Also, if you offering unlimited soup or salad why is it such a problem to get a soup AND a salad with your meal.

Despite these problems, the food is usually very tasty and a good place to get a decent meal.
