Today:
Oooooh, chile, I guar-ron-tee you ain't gonna get betta food than this for less money! Jambalaya, chili cheese etoufee, gumbo, beans and rice, whooooooooo-weeee! Yats cooks large quantities of a few dishes each day, and that's what you get to choose from. The food is so good that you'll never hear anyone complain about the limited choices - no matter what they have, you're gonna like it. Diners order at the counter. One dish for $5.50, a half and half plate of two different dishes for $6.50 and a soda for $1 more. Served over rice with a piece of garlic-buttered bread, Yats' dishes are an unprecedented convergence of high quality and low cost. If the food isn't spicy enough for you, there are enough supplemental powders and sauces available to ensure indigestion. We suggest you sit outside, pull a hat over your eyes when you're finished and take a Yats nap while the traffic whizzes by.
Is there anything better? That could be the only thing on their menu and their business wouldn't suffer tremendously. One of my top 10 favorite dishes in town.
...the dishes, but they're oh so good. Ask them to 'load up' the Chilli Cheese Etoufee with shredded cheese and sour cream at no extra cost.
If you have never been GO! You will not be disappointed!
I agree with kimikokopuffs the Mauque Chaux rocks! My all time fav is of course, Chili Cheese Etouffee!
I've never been disappointed with the food (except when I've cleaned up my plate and wished for more). But what clinched it for me was when I tried to pay for my order with a credit card because I didn't have the cash. No problem, the guy behind the counter said. Catch us next time, he said.
you can be having the worst day in your life. if you eat Yat's, everything melts away. authentic, honest food that makes you feel good. is it good for you? i dunno. maybe for your soul.
cheap, fast, and always pitch perfect.
We have visited New Orleans and we had to try Yats when we found out about it. The best is that you get to try everything before you decide what you want. We have never been disappointed with the service or the food selection. Another reviewer said that you can be having the worst day and Yats will make it better. That is true, however, when I was there last night my truck got towed! I was sure glad my belly was full of good food when we realized it. Be careful when you park up there! Three different vehicles were towed at the same time, but the owner was cool enough to give us all free gift certificates for our next visit there. You can't beat that. I would have definitely returned either way.
This place is soooo cool and the Hunter's stew is sooooo good, that I went here on my wedding day and pre honey moon.......service great, food great, atmosphere great..I cant say enough its terrific...and I love it and would recommend it to anyone......thanks for providing Indy with this service.......yeahhhhhhhhh us!
You can't ask for anything better on a blustry winter day. They know how to make you feel good. I have had everything they offer and I assure you that you will not be disappointed. I have even taken everyone in my family. Do yourself a favor and go there.
Great food, quirky eatery- it took a friend recommending it for me to go inside. Not much to look at from the front. I've invited many a friend to try out the cuisine and all have wanted to return. Take this as my invite to you: go and you won't be disappointed.
Not toooo hungry? Go for a half portion for a great price! Indecisive? Go for half and half for a little more and try a few flavors! Unlimited refills on soda.
I really had no idea why everyone I knew was so excited about Yats. Now I do... The food is delicious, great atmosphere, great people, tons of sauces if you still feel the need to put more flavor into your chosen dish. You go in hungry and leave with a full stomach (and wallet!).
Chili cheese etouffee with extra bread FTW!
I love Yats! I have never had a dish I didn't like. Whether I am in the mood for spicy or sweet they have it covered. Pazole Stew is awesome! B and B is great and vegetarian. Delicious. I want to eat there right now.
I think the best venue is downtown. I love working at the studio and when I get to a stopping point I drive over. I ove pulling up in the winter and the windows are all steamed up and you go inside and there is this extra glow in the restaurant due to the reflection from the steamed up windows. It is like the glow of a Christmas tree in the morning right as the sun is rising.
I think the location in Greenwood just opened a couple of weeks ago...two weeks after we move downtown. Figures!
Oh, and one last thing. When I was teaching at Catheral a handful of years ago I used to speed over to the Broad Ripple location for lunch. One day I forgot to bring cash with me and they actually spotted me for it. Where does that happen?
This is such a great place for all the reasons already listed. My son loves it too and whenever we go in we are treated like family. Not sure what i love most, the food, the atmosphere or the guys that work there. We always leave in a better mood for sure.
Never been dissapointed at all by this resteraunt. Their formula is simple, and works well. My stomach has never complained after comming out of there. I spent some time in creole country and this is on par with what theyre serving every day.
Steaming Cajun goodness
It's cheap, it's tasty, and it's fast. What more do you need? The only thing that would make it better is if it had a drive-thru, but then I'd be missing all the characters who work there and make Yats Yats. The chili cheese etoufee is a fave, and I get that when they have the non-crawfish varieties -- carribean jerk etoufee, curry chicken etoufee, etc. But my all-time fave has to be the Chicken Mauque Chaux (sounds like "mock shoe"). It's a rarity on the menu (because carmelized corn, apparently, is a pain in the butt to make), but a must-have when it's in. And you HAVE to love that they post their menu online. Some people plan their whole day around Yats' menu. Not me, but SOME people. ;)
