Louis Stamatkin opened the Belmont Lunch sandwich shop in 1918 but the name was changed more than half a century ago. Now The Workingman's Friend, the place is still hoppin' and his descendents run the place. Knock back a mason jar of iced tea if you have to go back to work or a 32-ounce beer on a Saturday.

Wonderful cheeseburgers!!!
I love this place!! The double cheeseburgers are to die for! The onoin rings are great as well! they have a varitey of foods that are all wonderful! The wait staff is wonderful as well! Check it out!! You won't be sorry!!

Try the Jalapeno Burger
The decor could use some updating, but no one seems to notice once the food comes out. A nice selection of burgers including my favorite the jalapeno burger. Very good onion rings and chili among other options for side dishes. The crowd is a mix of business casual and blue collar workers, which is a nice change.
Great Service, Great Food
High Quality Hamburgers and great service are what keep this place going. Don't judge a book by it's cover, it may not look like much, but it's charm is what makes it so great.
If I wanted to go to Steak 'n Shake I would have just gone down the street...
I'm sorry the hamburgers here are exactly like Steak 'n Shake. That's not a bad thing as they are good but people over-rate this place like crazy. I mean if you are in the area eat there but don't drive all the way out there to get something you could get at every major Indy area.
