The only way to distinguish this shanty from the neighboring houses is the neon lights. Liars' tables and hard whiskey chased with beer are commonplace. The saloon caters to neighborhood residents, construction workers, and a few hipsters and rockabilly rebels.
I love this bar. When I first moved to Indianapolis I lived right down the street so my roommates and I, all new to the city, spent many a nights down there.
From the 50 cent pool table, to all the interesting people you meet each visit, to all of the regulars.
I moved to the NE side of Indy and have yet to find a bar nearby that has the same type of feel as this place. The bartenders are great and they never forget a name. If you like that type of personableness where you can sit at the bar and feel comfortable, even alone after a bad day at work, this is the place for you!
Although the hours listed may be correct they stay open pretty much as late as people are there drinking. Many nights I know my roommates and I frequented until the 3am range. Great service, and also goes by the name May's, too!
Cheers-like atmosphere!
