The atmosphere is light and breezy, with ample space between tables, but the food is the thing: Pipers' New England Chicken graced the pages of Bon Appetit magazine.

A wonderful dining experience every time!

Do yourself a favor and say goodbye to your chain restaurants and their substandard offerings and visit Pipers Cafe on the city's southside. You will not be sorry! Great atmosphere, elegant yet casual. The service has always been top-notch. And the food is great! Entrees run between $10 - $20 and INCLUDE teacup bread, salad with housemade dressings, vegetable of the day and a starch. Recommendations would be the barbecued beef ribs (yes, BEEF) and for $17 you get a platter of beef ribs that would make Fred Flinstone chuckle with delight. Also, the Florida Grouper Provencal Style, which is the hugest grouper filet that I've ever seen and is cooked to perfection. The New England Chicken was featured in Bon Appetit magazine - enough said. And, any of the Sauteed Atlantic Salmon dishes are great - my personal fave is the brown butter finish. If the owner (Will Osgood) is there he is sure to stop at your table and make sure everything is to your liking.

I love this food!

I visited Pipers Cafe on March 15, 2008. I sat at the bar top. The bartender, Matthew was very friendly. He recommended items from the menu. It was my first visit and there were a lot of great chooses! While deciding Matthew made me a "Thin Mint Martini", it was his favorite drink to make. I chose to start out with the crab cakes for an app. For dinner I had a Delmonico steak. The steak was tender, juicy, and huge. My dressing was Honey Lemon Garlic Ranch ( their house dressing). I had never had a better made dressing. I tell all my friends of my visit. Try it you'll love the food.

Don't miss this place!

I have been here, twice in two weeks. This is truely great frood, prepared by someone who cares. Take the time to stop in andenjoy a meal. I agree that the ribs are huge, and quite a sight to see and enjoy. Was also impressed with the Chicken velvet soup and the teacup bread/specialty butter. Whatever the choice may be, I have not been disappointed yet.

The Best on the Southside

I live in Hamilton County, but when I am on the southside (which is at least once a week), I make it a point to come to Pipers.

The food is fantastic, the ambiance is nice, and the staff is outstanding. Every member of the Osgood family works here, so you're likely to meet one, two, or every member of the family on any given visit. I have had chicken, beef, and seafood here, all of which were excellent.

This is, without question, the best kept secret in Indianapolis. If you see a lot of cars there, don't let that stop you from going in. They often have large events that they cater there that fill a majority of the parking lot. The restaurant side is fairly easy to find a seat in (even on the weekend nights)...for now anyway. Get in and enjoy before everyone else does.
