Today:
This would-be hookah bar is still navigating red tape related to the recent smoking ban, so you'll have to step away from the apple flavored tobacco and settle for solid Mediterranean cuisine.
I've only been here once and it was a little later in the evening. At first, our server was very nice and attentive... until he found out that we were there to eat on not to smoke a hooka. After that he pretty much ignored us, never even got us silverware (we had to go and find some) and never refilled our drinks.
The falafel I had was just ok, def not the best in the city. I might try this place again, but I am much more likely to go somewhere else.
I started going to this restaurant literally over 20 years ago, before I was old enough to know what I was eating, but old enough to know that it was good. The selection of Greek and Lebanese wines is great, the staff has good recommendations for food and drink, and there's a hookah bar if you're so inclined. I love the Fiery Feta Dip and pretty much any of the platter dinners. Don't miss the loukoumades for dessert!
Khoury's, our "Habibi".
I'm not sure why the Quick Take section says Khoury's is a "would-be hooka bar".... it actually IS a hooka bar. We love this place! The Egyptian can be really crowded, loud, and uncomfortable at times, but Khoury's seems to have just the right atmosphere to enjoy a great Mediterranean meal with family and friends. On Fridays and Saturdays there's often live music performed by some of the staff; on more than one occasion we've moved aside some tables to dance with the waiters. :D The hummus is outstanding here, and I definitely recommend the passion fruit hooka and "honey balls" (ask for them, they'll know exactly what you're talking about). If you come in regularly enough you'll get to know the staff well enough to make song requests ("Habibi" is a personal favorite of ours) and bargain how much you can sell your friends for (in camel currency of course lol). If you're a fan of the hooka and overall good times, go to Khoury's!
