Today:
There's a reason this eatery feels homey. It used to be one. Morphed from a private residence to a clubhouse and finally to a restaurant in 1953, the Iron Skillet charms with a bed-and-breakfast feel, window seating and a gift shop. Meals are served family-style.
I recently ordered take out from Iron Skillet, not that I don't like dining with old people, but I prefer if they're related to me. The food is awesome and the portion sizes are almost obscene. We always get the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad (the dressing is odd, but good), cottage cheese, beets, corn and of course some gravy. Every day can be Thanksgiving with this restaurant.
Iron Skillet
Oh the joys of the "Iron Skillet"
A trip to the Iron Skillet is like going to your grandmothers house for Thanksgiving. It even has the "smell" the "decor" and the "food"
This home style place is number one for Fried Chicked, Mashed Potaoes, and all the fixin's! Not to mention the Ice Cream at the end of your meal is +A!
If you want a more HIP place, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU! Since the avg age is 70 here. But don't let that stop you! Think of it as going to a country club stuck in 1967, and nothing has changed since! That is the Iron Skillet. AND IT ROCKS! IT REALLY DOES! If you want some Grandma cooking, you will find the best here!
For a special treat get dressed up and go on Sunday!
