My Fav Sushi Haunt Daruma

I have never been to a restaurant with a more friendly attentive wait staff then at Daruma.

Fortunately one should expect no less in this price range, and they deliver. One of the long time waiters is the spitting image of William Defoe and he may be the best waiter I have ever met.

I was there one night with a few friends who lived in Japan and had a bit of sake. Apparently they forgot they were back in the U.S. because one of them started barking orders in Japanese at our poor waitress who took it all in stride. He of course apologized, buying her a drink.

Oh wait, yes the food.

The food is divine. The sushi chefs are top notch, never have I had any fish that wasn't delectable. Here's the key, keep ordering. You order enough and you start to get custom food art. Giant sculpted pineapple and oranges brought to you from the chef.

You can feel comfortable deferring judgement to the chef if you're feeling adventurous. Let them make whatever they think is best. It's that good.

They have a great selection of sake ranging from basic hot to ultra premium chilled. They plum wine is a wonderful waiting on friends drink.

Unfortunately Kobe Beef doesn't make an appearance, but the fillet dinner is excellent, rare of course. If you don't like sashimi there are other options for you. And there are vegetarian options as well. The tofu cubes are great.

The place is small, there's floor seating with foot wells, a comfortable bar, and two tables. It's quaint.

Be prepared to remove you shoes when you go, wear cute socks.

Arigato Daruma

What a wonderful sense of authenticity! It was just like home, eating with my shoes off. The Sake is warm and it hits the spot on a cold day. The food is excellent, best sushi in town, hands down. The service is 5 star. You have to check it out if you have never been.
