Today:
Come to Buca for enormous spoons, whopping bowls of pasta and Chianti served in tumblers. Down an appertif, enjoy spirits with your meal and top it off with a decadent torta formaggio that Tony Soprano would covet.
I prefer Downtown for the metro feel, but the service at the Castleton spot is consistently much better -- at least in my experience.
a friend raved about this dish "this is how you know if it is a real Italian place", Gnocchi, so I had to try it. She was right... Excellent dish, wonderful service.
my only regret is that she wasn't there to share it with me.
We went there one time to eat and was told that they weren't seating anyone without a reservation until 9PM!
I've been to all three locations and I haven't been impressed with any of the food. But I've enjoyed the atmosphere at all three, even though they are pretty much the same. The staff seemed very pleasant. The gelato is tasty!
The food isn't bad, but I always end up smelling like garlic for days. The atmosphere is a little overwhelming at times. Noisy, cramped and every square inch of the walls are covered with something. That was fun the first time, annoying after that. It's a good place to go with a large group due to the family style portions, but don't try to walk in without reservations.
This restaurant was the first one that I had ever been to that was above the league of Olive Garden and Red Lobster. I never before Buca experienced anything near its level of flavor, experience, and setting. I don't know if they have a "bad dish" I certainly haven't had it yet if they do.
Always get the cheesecake.
I've only been to the downtown location based on some recommendations by friends. The food was just ok, not great. I ordered whole wheat pasta in place of regular, which is usually quite good at other restaurants I go to, but this wheat pasta was like cardboard. I would stick with the regular next time, as my friend's dish was much better. I'd like to go back for dessert, the chocolate cake looked delicious.
I like this place. It encourages conjoining for food. The decor alone should mesmerize you and the food is good. I wouldn't say anything there blows me away (althought I love the overload of garlic on the garlic bread) but I always end up eating here for the sole reason of spending time with loved ones and that makes any meal better.
Food AND Fun!!
This place has decor that is almost better than the food. Almost. I've been there countless number of times, and I still see things I've never noticed before. Love the s'ghetti, and love the chianti.
