Needs an Update!

This is such a fun place to go, but everytime I go I feel like it needs to be updated! You can only see the same "Volcano" trick so many times.

The food itself is always just ok. But I feel like maybe it is just a bit overpriced for what you are really getting!

But if you are a fan of the habichi grill, you should go, just because this is suppose to be the best place to go. But if not, you can always save some money and take up knife juggling on your own!

But an update would be nice!

Bummed

We only got a couple tricks. We had a surprise party for a friend and they wouldn't let us go wait at the table before our whole party was there, so we had to surprise her in the lobby! But the food was great and I hear there might be a night for all-you-can eat sushi?? Anybody know about that?

Good Food, Good Times

This is a restaurant that you go to with a group. Very energizing atmosphere but, pretty standard as far as hibachi grills go. The food is good and alway leaves me beyond full when I leave. The cooks are entertaining even though they use the same standard tricks that you see at other hibachis. There Sushi bar has great sushi and I have never had a bad experience there. If you get an appetizer I recommend the sautéed calamari (It is amazing!). My wife and I always spend an hour in the sushi bar before we set down for dinner at the hibachi grills. Yum.

overpriced

I have been to several Japanese steakhouses here in Indy and I have never had to pay more for a meal than at Benihana. I didn't get anything fancy either - a simple steak and chicken combo but it was almost $20 and did not taste good at all.

Sure the decor is nice but the experience was overall a flub. I don't want to come off as a jerk or anything but I came to Benihana for the promise of a Japanese theme restaurant experience but our chef was an old white guy, really? not even remotely Asian, really it threw me off.

Next time I'm going to Kabuto in Greenwood.

Never had a problem

I've been going to Benihana for years and the biggest complaint I have is the wait. If you plan to go on a weekend night, well, really any night, be prepared to wait at least 10-15 minutes to be seated even if you have a reservation. It is worth it though. Their sushi is some of the best I've had and almost everything on the hibachi grill is very good. (the chicken tends to be a little dry). The meals do range from around $20-30 but like any hibachi meal, you get soup, salad, rice, your entree, vegetables, green tea, and ice cream comes with some of the meals. Benihana is great for special occasions and is worth the price and the wait.

Oh, and make sure you upgrade to the fried rice!
