Today:
Another culinary reinvention of a Carnegie library, Greenfield's distinctive Place to Eat soothes diners with dark green walls while wowing them with wonders from the outdoor brick oven and herbs grown by the chef.
I've been here four times in the past 1 1/2 years since hearing of this place and it has never failed to please. The roasted red bell pepper soup is a MUST (I always forget to bring a straw to sip out the last little bit from the bowl!) Even though the menu is not extensive, each item on it is very well done. The service has always been top-notch and the wine selection is satisfactory and well-priced. Actually, everything is well-priced considering it would probably be twice the price if this restaurant was a downtown Indy restaurant, which it is comparable to. Even though I've always been on Saturdays and always made reservations, I have never needed them (I'm not complaining!) I guess most people don't have the desire to go "out of the city" to a very good restaurant. Finally, try the creme brule for dessert...excellent.
Consistently Great!
Our favorite restaurant. In 20-30 visits, we've never had a bad meal. Upscale dining without the attitude.
