Today:
A pool shark's paradise, J-Dub's contains dozens of pool tables. The pub isn't that big, so come early if you want to claim a patch of felt-covered slate or check out live music on the weekend.

I will agree the chicken is pretty tasty for a bar, and there are a ton of pool tables, something i like, but its pretty croweded and its hard to play pool when its crowded. I will say that on a non weekend night it is a pretty chill place to just shoot some pool.
love to see bands in JW's...the band side is small so get there early and dont plan to move around a whole lot.....but shows are intimate and the best I have ever seen.
Maybe I haven't been around a lot but I don't think I've seen too many places with the amount of pool tables that John Waynes' has. I've never had a problem getting a table. The pool and beer are cheap too. I guess that's why this place is always crowded. Definitely the type of crowd you'd expect on the south side....
The Fried Chicken is excellent!
Believe it or not, the fried chicken here is wonderful. That might not be the type of grub that you're looking for at a bar but you should definitely try it. It's made to order so it takes a while but it's worth the wait. Which means that it hasn't been cooked earlier and sitting under a heat lamp all day like the fried chicken that you get at your local grocery stores and chain restaurants. They serve big, tasty pieces of fried chicken that are juicy and not greasy whatsoever. The fried chicken meals also come with deep fried potato wedges, cole slaw and fried biscuits with apple butter. You will not leave hungry. You'll probably leave with a doggy bag.
