Today:
Like a layer cake, Jillians offers several delicious levels of entertainment. Burn calories with bowling after the first-floor bar and hibachi grill fill the belly, entertain the brain in the second-floor arcade and round out the night in the penthouse dance club.
I've never been a fan of the food at Jillians, neither the bar food or the Asian grill, but I still like to go for the bowling and arcade games. I'm not sure if they're still doing this or not, but you used to be able to drop your business car in a fish bowl for a chance to win a bowling party with free appetrizers for you and several friends. They used to leave the cards in there, so pretty much everyone wins eventually. I've been to a frew of those free bowling thingees...always end up spending money anyway, of course, on drinks and such.
I think the whole concept is rather boring, and do you really want to eat at a place where you can go play arcade games?? The food is not that great, the bar sucks BIG TIME! The Bowling is fun since it is downtown and you can drink while you do it. But you can do that at most places and the drinks aren't as high! Just a boring place. With all the fine food places around the city, I am sure you can find another place.
We had a coupon for our food. Decided to eat in the japanese restaurant with a group of people and the waitress said the coupon wasn't good for in there. The coupon didn't say that, it just said Jillian's. Hello...it's in Jillian's! So I had her get the manager. The manager said the same thing, the coupon was supposed to be for half of two meals, and he ended up only giving me half off one meal. Completely ticked me off. What's the difference if you used it there or in the other restaurant on two steaks for the same price? Makes no sense. I won't go back.
I can deal with on par food, but the upstairs is where Jillians is the best, have some fun like a kid again while drinking your fav drink. Would do again, but you gotta have alot of friends if you really wanna have some fun IMO
I have been to Jillians a few times and was never impressed with the service or the food. The best thing about it is that it has the games and the bowling alley. Those too are overpriced though.
Jillian's is not just for drinking and playing.
I sometimes stroll down to Jillian's when I'm tired of being lazy and eating at subway by my apartment. Unlike most of the restaurant/bars on S. Meridian, Jillian's actually has some reasonable prices for dinner entrees. I enjoy their salads and pastas.
I've also been impressed by the serving staff on several occasions. In addition to being very attractive as a group, they are warm and inviting. I definitely recomend this spot if you are bored and lonely. Cozy on up to the bar and strike up a conversation.
Because of the prices, this used to be the meeting spot for PartyCrashers for meetings and after shifts. Oh yeah, and they have another level full of video games and skeeball.
