Today:
How many bars are there in Indy where you can play big-band hits on the jukebox and order a nice piece of seared fish with a balsamic glaze for dinner? One, and you're reading about it. English Ivy's exists in the present with a clear appreciation for the past.
I love English Ivy's! It is the one place I feel you can actually walk into and not feel like you are at a Meat Market! It is very laid back, the food is very good. The people are very friendly, and not young and bitchy as at "other" bars in town You know the ones or I should say the one I am speaking of! It is just a nice time out. No naked men dancing on jumbo screens, no girls who are out on a bachlrt. party night, no boys dressing as girls....just a normal good place!
I ended up chatting it up with my new boyfriend, now husband, until almost 2am at Ivy's in 2003. I LOVE this bar - it is so fun, every time I walk in the door every single person is friendly and funny and just there to enjoy their time and have good conversation. Great staff, so helpful, great grownups, just a great bar with good food and good people.
Ive hear so many people say dont go there its a gay bar and what not, but to tell you the truth, my co-workers ocasionally go there for lunch. Well I decided ill see for myself. Its a great place to go and the people are so nice and welcoming and you dont have to worry about anything going wrong there. just kick it and relax.
this place is soo unique...it is hard to describe...more restaurants need to look at the wait staff this place has and see hoe pros do it...this food is to die for and you can never go wrong whether you want chicken mars ala or chicken fingers it will melt in your mouth...the bar is great as well the people there are always ready with a hug if you want it and they will talk to you if you look lonely...i love this place even though i am only nineteen
I used to eat dinner here all the time. I loved their food and the service was always impeccable. Their jukebox has the best music!
Awesome reuben. It is a great proportion of all of the things I hold dear in a reuben. I can't think of any negative comments for this place other than the fact that I always get vertigo when entering and leaving (sober). I have only ordered take out but on many occasions. The staff is hospitable and the looks a guy can get in there will either make you uncomfortable or really flattered.
Bar food is bar food is bar food, right? Wrong. Mary and I paid a visit to English Ivy's, which she's been prodding me to ...
Yay, Ivy's!
This is my neighborhood pub, and I love it so. Everyone there is so nice and I LOVE that they turn off the loud music for Desperate Housewives on Sunday nights! Different drink specials every night, and smoking is separated from the non. The staff is awesome, love you guys!
