Today:
Kids rule this roost, diving face first into pizzas, ball pits, and rows of arcade games.
The pizza is nothing special, stick with something basic. The salad bar is ok. All the food is too expensive for it's quality, but that's not why you go there.
You go to play with the kids. Rictor's right, it rocks. The $.25 video games are great. I'm very partial to the airplane dogfight game where you're in a moving bubble that simulates your planes movements. Ski ball is always great and whacka mole is a great stress reliever.
Up by the main stage there's a blue screen camera and projector that puts you on the TV's around the place. Once you get the kids up there, you've got an instant 20minutes of entertainment. I'm pretty sure dancing to the bad music video's in front of the blue screen is my favorite part of the place.
I do appreciate the security check at the front of the place. No body leaves without their group and it gives you a bit of a piece of mind if your kids run outa sight for a few seconds.
Chuck E Cheese is an amazing place for kids. All of the games cost the same. The people are very flexible with tickets and sometimes they just leave tickets around for the kids to find. There food isn't too shabby either. I would recommend going to the one in Avon over the 38th St. location. But fun can be had at any Chuck E Cheese.
I need to have a kid so I can go here more
You get strange looks when you're an adult and you go into a Chuck E Cheese alone, so I usually take a niece or nephew along with me. The food is overpriced and not good (avoid it), but the video games are great if you don't mind the crowds. Every game at Chuck E Cheese is 25 cents and you can print off coupons from their website to play games even cheaper. I'm an old school arcade fan, so I can find plenty to play here.
Last time I was at the one on the west side (Avon) they had a Pirates of the Caribbean pinball machine (the only one I've seen in Indy) a two-player sit-down Mario Kart game, plenty of shooting games, a ton of redemption games (skeeball anyone?), and the usual assortment of modern arcade games.
Being the cheap person that I am, I'd rather brave the screaming kiddies and pay 25 cents (or less) a game for pinball and arcade games than head to somewhere like Jillians and pay 50 cents to $1 per game (or more) for some of the exact same video games.
