Ginza Japanese Steak House

5380 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN, 46254

Everyone's life would be greatly improved if we each had our own hibachi chef. He slices; he dices; he tells jokes! West 38th St. isn't a hot dining strip, but the chefs at Ginza make it worth a trip. Or two. Sushi gets equal billing to the stainless steel hibachi grilling, and a separate staff of chefs twists, turns, positions and plates 70 versions of le poison in the raw. All entrees are served with a pair of grilled shrimp, a grilled veggie medley, Japanese onion soup and a side salad. Pop some edamame while the chefs heat the grill and cool your mouth after the meal with green tea or red bean flavored ice cream.

Off the charts!

I absolutely love this place. The food is amazing and its allways quick.i have tried kabuto in greenwood and benihanas and they are 10 steps behind in service and especially food quality. The price is way lower here and tastes 10X better and you get more food. As long as i live in Indy i will make the drive to the west side if i want an awesome meal that blows the others out of the water.

no giner or shrimp sauce

i looked forward to a trip to a japanese steakhouse, however this place served their salad with thousand island dressing (no ginger available), when it was time to get the dipping sauces, they did not have any shrimp sauce only steak sauce. I also ordered filet mignon, but received regular steak. The chef was entertaining, but the waitress had an issue seating us because we wanted to eat an appetizer at the sushi bar first. The sushi was good though.

Really fishy

Went for lunch, the second time I have been there since Dagu, the sushi chef left. They DO have good service and the servers are friendly to regulars. I had the house special plate ($14.95) The sushi was irregularly shaped, the pieces did not work well together and several of the pieces had the bad fishy taste and smell of meat that isn't at it's best. The quality of food at the sushi bar in Ginza has gone downhill and that's sad.

Good buy

Had lunch here with Liv awhile back. The chef was awesome! Very entertaining tiny, little Asian man. Who happend to know many of the same people in the Sushi industry that I knew. Offering generous portions with friendly service I left happy. Its in a suspect area of town but I will most certainly be going back again!
