Today:
There is hip, and there is cool. One is a passing fancy, the other is timeless. The Old Point is cool no matter how hot the chili it serves gets. The decorative 15-foot tin ceiling create the illusion of space, and the patio gets as packed as the inside of the bar when it's warm out, especially if there's a concert across the street at the Murat.

You always have a vibrant glow inside the Old Point. Mainly thanks to the large windows with red neon signs. It's kind of cool. The chili is darn good as are the nacho's, like Kevin says.
The have bottles of Samuel Smith's Oatmeal stout and a good selection of other brews.
The joint is at its best in the summer when you can sit outside and enjoy the air. It's kind of entertaining in the winter when the huge glass walls fog up and it take on a womb like ambience. With beer.
I like the chili a lot. The nachos are pretty yummy too. Maybe some of the best (in the top five) in the city? I like the building and the art and the location is great. I love being on the Avenue. The drinks are good too of course. I could go for slightly cheaper prices for the food, but those won't keep me away. A def. neighborhood hang out.
I have two complaints...
The bar sucks, it's really awkward to sit at. My knees are always pinned up against it.
Stop using a tostitos type chips for your nachos and chili! They are gross and way too salty. Use some real tortilla chips!
Otherwise I love Old Pointe. The veggie chili is awesome and the beer selection is quite adequate! (Please bring back John Courage!)
This place has some great nachos to start, and then on top of that its got a great BBQ sandwich, I usually only go for lunch, but The patio is a nice place to sit and with the weather getting nice outside, everyone should try this place out.
Old Point Tavern serves some of the best food that Indy has to offer in the coolest setting I have seen in a long time that only Mass Ave. can offer.
The chili is the best and the nachos are great, but my personal favorite is the chicken salad sandwich. the drink prices are high but I hardly drink so I don't mind at all.
this place is heavenly. amazing white russians, breathtaking nachos, and hello when you can get the table right on the point when its a beautiful 74 degree evening NOTHING tops it. this place was a staple when i lived downtown and now that i work a few days a week at the starbucks across the street, i tend to stop by even when the budget doesn't allow. xoxo Old Point.
Can't argue with good nachos ...
... especially when there's a decent tap selection to wash them down. The veggie variety is my favorite, but the chicken version is tasty, too. If nachos aren't up your alley, take aim for the chili.
Because it's so open, it's a great people-watching spot, too ... Laid-back, at its finest.
