Today:
Restaurant by day, singles bar by night.
Well this place has a massive dance floor as well as reasonable beer prices and some of the best dj's around.
One thing is for certain, next time I am in downtown Indy, I won't be visiting Ike's... at 1 am my friends and I walk in to find it is standing room only. Fine. What they did not say is that "standing room only" really means "you better not be in a servers way or they will yell in your face". After 5 minutes of standing near the bar, a large older gentlemen with a biker mustache decided to shove my friends and i out of his way. Whatever, he's sober, I'm not, I'll let it go.
Next, a server tries to walk between us and the bar and proceeds to scream in our faces that we "need to keep an aisle way!!!". Whatever, I dismiss her with a quick motion of my wrist (nothing obscene) and biker-stache man tells me that was rude and that I am being thrown out. WHAT!!! A shouting match ensues as we walk out of the bar and since we did not do this fast enough, the jerks at Ike's decided it was ok to grab our female friends by the arm and push them forward into the sea of humanity.
The moral of the story... stay away from Ike and Lonely's... the people apparently have power trips and attitude issues. If they can't handle a standing room only crowd with some respect for those THEY let in the door, then that is not my problem.
My recommendation, stick to Broad Ripple where the people are friendlier and you have less of a chance of running into 60 year old, hag servers and their biker-stached boy friends...
That's what I would tell most of the people in this place. It's like a Broad Ripple bar but everyone's 20 years older. The place is tiny and dirty. I know it has been there forever, but I don't see why.
I had tried to get into this place on New Years but it was already packed so I thought I would try it again later. I went there with my HB and a friend from out of town hoping to impress him with some local Indy flavor and was a little let down. I am sure it is a lot better at night but the food is not good enough for me to go back for, maybe I will try drinking next time.
Fun place
We love their pinball tables and wish we had one. The food isn't anything fancy but if you just want a BLT or a burger, then you are good to go!
Recently went there with some girlfriends for some drinks and dancing and it was a blast. The dance floor was so packed you couldn't move and at one point you couldn't even get on it. It was a wall of people! The waitress said she had never seen it so busy before. There were a lot of events going on downtown that weekend so that might have been the issue.
