Today:
Like its Downtown brother, Champps' Northside location is geared toward the game -- it's always a party here, but the energy ramps up after tipoff or kickoff.
The food is decent but you go here for the atmosphere. Just a fun place to be. It's the best on Wednesday nights in the summer when they have the whole outside area open too. You can also see some B/C-List Indianapolis celebrities there.
I've had great experiences here with food and friends at appropriate times. If you are not interested in the meat market atmosphere where you have to bump uglies with anyone and everyone despite their appeal, then head on over on wednesday nights during the summer. I'm more of a hole-in-the-wall, inviting atmosphere, friendly bar guy. Can't handle running into thousands of past-their-prime, stuck-in-high-school, losers who just desperately want to get laid. SOOOOO sad. But go for lunch or dinner on an off night.
Only been there once and I think it was during the whole formula one thing. All the foreigners were watching soccer. I like the layout and the food was very tasty. Would like to go back soon :)
In the summer when you can sit outside, it's a pretty decent place to eat, and enjoy and band and get a decent view. But they seriously have 6 dollar chips and salsa...yes, the same chips and salsa that's free at every Mexican joint. It's is quite over priced for Chili's quality food. But if your on the north side it's sadly, one of your best options.
The above post is untrue.
Champps liquor license was suspended for 15 days and it has since been reinstated.
