Today:
The smoking and non-smoking descriptions are misleading. The bar is non-smoking till 11pm. The assertion that smoking is available during the day is only correct if you want to freeze your buns off outside. The absence of acoustic friendly ceilings and furnishings causes the noise to rattle around and around the walls. We left after 10 minutes when no server had as yet approached our table.
Had a pretty good lunch experience here. The food is your basic Americanized wanna be British cuisine, but pretty tasty. The Rasher Bacon BLT was good, and the friends I was with just had your basic club, and chicken salad sandwiches, with no complaints.
I could really give two shats about acoustics, because if I wanted a quiet meal I'd be at MCL listening to the muted smacking sounds of old people gumming up their tapioca.
Definitely give this joint a try...
We've only been here once, and it was during a colts game. At first, the service was ok. About halfway through the game, our server came and said that her shift was up and asked if we could pay. This has happened before at other places, so we didn't really think too much about it.
The thing was we never got another server. We were stuck halfway through the game without another beer (we could have gone to the bar, but we were angry). And to top it all off, the server we had was there throughout the entire game! She just stood by the bar, but it seemed she was still on. I don't get why she would want us to check out early.
The food was alright (not much on the veggie front). They had some great beers on tap as well. The one thing I really like is that its a non-smoking place during the day so it was nice to watch a game in that environment.
Kind of feel like they ripped off McNiven's down the street or is that just me?
I guess British and Scottish are two entirely different cultures with different cuisines but decor is very similar.
Ok service, first ketel 1 and cran was pretty weak and the second was like Ketel 1 on the rocks with a splash of Cran... I love my vodka and all but I really prefer consistency!
Chatham Tap Restaurant & Pub, which took over the former LAMP Gallery space late last summer, made major modifications, most strikingly in the massive wood ...
We've been there several times in the evening. It's been busy, loud and comfortable. Servers have been uniformly friendly and efficient. Food is really good (can't say about the pizza...) Wings, fish 'n chips, Reuben sandwich are the best we've found in Indy. We'll be back.
We have found the food to be excellent pub food. We especially like the unique wing sauce and the fish and chips. The fish and chips are totally non-greasy and really tasty. Our service has always been great. It is noisy, but we try to get there early in the evening before things really crank up.
I went here with my Mom on Sunday afternoon. I had the garlic pork tenderloin.. It was surprisingly good considering I had been told the food was "awful" at Chatham Tap. The atmosphere was comfortable, but the service was a bit slow even though it was not busy at all. Either way it was a Sunday so were weren't really in a rush.
The prices seemed a bit steep for what they were serving, but I'll probably go back at some point. Not amazing, but not terrible.
As a recent transplant to downtown I needed to find a new hangout. I believe this may be it. Despite the fact you can not smoke inside. I only smoke when I drink if you cared to know. The food is interesting, filling and tasty. The Beer selection....how do I word this. Its your standard "Good English Pub Beer" selection. The service is typical of a pub but they are quick to remember your name, face and typical drink of choice. The tables are sitting on top of each other but I do enjoy the proper football games being on the televisions. Anyone living downtown should definately give this place a go.
real euro futbol on the tube... friendly service... and amazing guinness specials on pattys day.
Love the food. Love the beer selection. It is a tight squeeze and due to the high ceiling it is small without being cozy. Way too loud and the service can be a bit slow, but it is tight to maneuver and they do have to run downstairs to get food. At least there is one place to watch rugby in this city. I recommend the Montauk appetizer (rasher bacon, french bread, smoked gouda and horseradish).
My favorite thing is the Montauks. The Sunday dinners are nice as well.
I highly recommend not ordering dinner when the place is packed with "drunks", including myself.
I really enjoyed this place
Went here for lunch. Great food, good atmosphere. Parking is what it is on Mass Ave, but if you can park, check this place out.
