Today:
The simple, lunch counter atmosphere keeps all the focus on the simple, lunch counter food. The menu is bare bones and the burgers are anything but fancy but everything they should be. Fresh, hot, delicious. Leave a comment on the bulletin board before you leave.
Best Burgers in town, and they load you up on fries... if you don't like fries, don't try five guys! hahaha. Boogie Burger in Broad Ripple is pretty good too!
The five guys that the place is named for are the sons of the owners, and the rest of the restaurant's name is very close ...
If you are looking for a burger and fries that will make your bag see-through before you get to your seat, then this is the place. Everything is made to order. No pattie is ever froze . . . always fresh. Best burgers on the soutside for sure.
best fries and burgers. ever. I ate way too many fries but thankfully ordered the 'little' cheeseburger. And by little I mean..it was huge. The free peanuts were a highlight too.
Good burgers, but only American cheese. It would be much better if they offered a variety.
It is very good, and it definitely has a local feel to it (except for all of the various magazine covers from around the country rather than local publications--where's the indy.com love?).
The burgers were outstanding, and I had no idea that my choice of bacon cheeseburger would include two thick patties and some good bacon (definitely not that flimsy, rubbery fast-food bacon, but nice thick full slices). They had a good selection of toppings--all of the basics and then some were covered.
And the fries were wonderful-a large bag of the good, skin-on fries (similar to Great Steak and Potato or other mall steakeries). A large was too much for my wife and I together to eat.
Riley got the hot dog, which was large and sliced lengthwise down the middle, which makes it less a hot dog and more a hot dog sandwich.
The place was clean, though the decor was a bit minimalist for my tastes. There were faux magazine covers all over the place, and things like the menu board were also done in a minimalist style. I'd like to see a little more art or something more interesting visually to make it stand out a little more.
But overall it was a terrific experience. Great food, spacious dining area, prompt service, and the guy who took our order even commented positively on my Cobra Kai t-shirt.
Yeah, it'll cost you a bit more than Mickey D's. But this place, which seems to be popping up all over the metro area, is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It's by no means fancy, but trust me, you won't pull your face out of those burgers long enough to notice. Great quality beef, a long list of toppings to choose from, and extremely generous servings of fries--I'm sold.
I ate at this place for the first time on Sunday. Oh my Lord. It was the best burger I've ever had. More than a burger, really. With all the toppings it was more like some sort of burger salad. And the fries were big enough that you could actually taste the glorious potato, which is often not the case. I really can't recommend the place enough.
I love Five Guys
Best burgers ever. I'm glad to see Five Guy's is expanding beyond the mid-Atlantic.
