It was extremely hot in this place everytime I went there. The staff said the owner was too cheap to get a new air conditioner until next spring. They book terrible bands and they keep the volume so loud it gives people headaches. I don't know why it says "No smoking allowed". The place is always full of tattoed bikers smoking like chimneys. I was in the restroom and somebody had been sick. There was vomit everywhere. To my shock, the cook came in, still wearing his apron from the kitchen, toilet brush in hand, and said to me "looks like I got a mess to clean up". The wait staff is friendly, but the owner is a jerk. He makes sure everybody in the place knows he owns it. I tried real hard to like Brandon's, but in the end, I quit going. When the owner decides to put the customers first, maybe I'll give it another chance....if it is still in business.
I wondered why it was always so hot in that place. Thanks to the previous reviews, now I know. I've been to Brandon's only a handful of times, but it got worse each time. They have tv's everywhere, but you can't hear them. They either have horrible country music radio playing or the jukebox is being played (usually louder than it should be). There are usually a few regulars (barflies) sitting at the bar. The same people have been there each time I went. The bartenders tend to spend their time chatting with the regulars and ignoring people they don't know. Its very smokey, which combined with the oppressive heat, makes for an unpleasant experience. The guys working in the kitchen don't look like a real clean bunch. They probably don't have four teeth among the group. All in all, it's a pretty uncomfortable place. They don't make you feel welcome at all. Bubbaz, the meat market down the road is actually a better place to relax and have a beer.
Bottom line is this place allows smoking. I hate to stereotype but where there is smoke there is trash.
I tried this place out the past two weeks to watch IU games.
The food is very good, and the service staff is great. But they would do their guests a big favor if they simply turned the jukebox off when local teams were on TV, or even if there was a significant crowd there to watch a game. Both times I was there, right at about 5 minutes left in the game, the game's sound cut out and jukebox kicked on. Ridiculous. 35 minutes, people are sitting around, enjoying the game & having a good time, and for the last 5 minutes of game time, they suddenly have to suffer through some crappy Madona or some trash like that.
It's too bad too, the place is set up very well, and considering there are large flat panel TV's all over the place, you'd think they would try to cater to that crowd, attract more sports fans, and make some money. Luckily, there is a BW3's just a few blocks away, and I'm sure they'll be happy to take cash from me and my friends.
We have been going to Brandons for a few weeks now and we really like the Tuesday night bike night. My husband and I have been trying to find a place to hang out and have a good time and now we have a place to go to on Tuesday nights!! The lady and her husband that runs the bike night seems really nice and they go out of their way to make people want to come back. Everyone should try out the bike night even if you don't have a bike to have a good time and meet new people
Don't waste your time
Smoking is allowed. Brandon's is always full of smoke. Air conditioner does not work. They are waiting for Spring, 2008 to fix it. They advertise all sports packages yet while trying to watch college basketball, they allow friends of the owner to crank up the jukebox. The owner, Ed, sits at the bar and gets tanked with his buddies while cussing and talking about how tough he is. He has more interest in flaunting his "wealth and power" than making customers happy. Don't waste your time at Brandon's. Expect a "For Lease" in the window by next summer.
