Today:
Baxter's working class clientele shuffles in for a beer after work and stays for the sandwiches. But late night is a party with poker, live music and karaoke!
Glad to see that the Baxter's staff and friends are paying attention. Thank you for the amusement of your very modest (...NOT) reviews of yourself. even considering the very slim possibility that these are genuine reviews from independent sources, then I would dearly love to know what these people did to attain such awesome service. I think it is called LSD or something of that nature!!!! bye for now.
I had the pleasure of visting Baxter's over the holiday season and really enjoyed the experience. I recently moved to Indy from the northern part of the state. Since I have been in Indy I have longed for the relaxed enviroment of my favorite bar back home. At Baxter's I felt like I was at home. The entertainment was exceptional for a bar without a cover! The severs are friendly and quite helpful. The food was prepared very promptly and tasted great. I would recommend Baxter's to anyone. as I will soon return. Thank you Baxter's!
The best little bar in town!!!!! If you like good food, great service and a hot wait staff you gotta try this place. I see that a few people have said some bad things but if you have a bad attitude to begin with the service probably wont be as good (go figure huh).
I have been to baxters a few times and have never had bad experience there. The prices are great and the food rocks. Biggest bang for your buck. The service was fast and friendly. Always smiling. The drink prices are great. Visit Baxter For a Great Time
i went to baxters 2 weeks ago for a christmas party and had a blast!!!!!the food was great, the band was kick ass!!! I couldnt get off the pool table. met alot of good people and had alot of fun. oh! by the way, theres a HOT waitress there i think her name is CASI .. CHECK HER OUT!!!!!! SEE YOU THERE..
I 've been to Baxter's several time and always have a great time. The food is very good ,and the service is phenomanal. The only way it could be better is if there was a Baxter's North
This is a great place to have dinner, listen to good music and meet some great people. I have been numerous times and been treated great. The staff is so nice that they even sent a Christmas card to my work for being such a LOYAL and NICE customer. Its funny how people with good things to say use a real name and not XXXX as a username. Obviously they plan on going back and don't want to be called out for it.
Do yourself a favor and dont waste your time at this place. I used to like hanging out there but the staff they have now are very rude and it is like pulling teeth to get served. Bugsy's is right down the street and I have been met with all smiles and fast service there.
Don't even think about going to this place. The food is horrible, the drink prices are salty. and the service is so bad and slow that I could brew my own beer and still get it faster and have more fun doing it. I first thought maybe it is just busy and then I looked around and realized there were about 8 people in the bar. duh there is better service at other bars. If baxters was the last bar in indy I would drive to California to find another. The bar tender was so rude also..... please for your sake dont waste your time.....
ANd it looks like all the good reviews come from all the friends and idiots of baxters pub. They must all be inbred and white trash. They should change the name to 's--- hole from hell'
I was asked to come here to Indy.com to check out some overly tenacious comments, and I'd like to address the only comment I find over-the-line, entitled "Don't waste your time here" by "johndoe".
While it is true that Baxter's, over the last 10 months, has seen a mass exodus of regulars due to rude or mismanaged service, the aforementioned comment is inappropriate. The people who work there are not inbred or white trash. In fact, Baxter's is owned by very nice and upstanding owners.
The food is NOT horrible, in fact it's pretty good. The drink prices ARE very reasonable. I only hope that the service issue resolves itself; nobody likes a scowling bartender or being treated like you are not welcome.
I will also address another "fairness" problem with this Baxter's feedback forum; the majority of the "5 star" comments were admittedly added by Baxter's staff after the discovery of a few negative reviews. Let's keep this forum fair and objective folks...obviously the comments coming from friends and staff are going to be purposely skewed to "sway the vote" so to speak. The intent of this public forum is to encourage Indy-area venues and businesses to achieve excellence by being held accountable to the public. I bet Baxter's would be pleasantly surprised to find legitimate positive reviews if some of their issues were finally addressed.
I would now officially ask that, whoever is "johndoe" please edit your comment, keeping it clean and objective. Your feedback will have more credibility if it is presented without emotion.
Wow, went in to see one of my favorite bartenders and found she had quit. This Baxter's is going to loose many regular's over loosing her. She was very good and always a pleasure to have drinks with. Great service and attentive to the customer at all times.
This place is pretty good. Probably the best on the east side of town. Some would say that doesn't say much. Baxter's has gone through some changes - for the good. Got rid of one of the rudist bartenders I've ever met, a drunk for an owner, etc. Although the staff now could use a little brush up, they are working on making Baxter's a great place. I've been to Bugsy's twice at night and once during lunch. Lunch was the better of the two. Good food, service no so. One night I went there at 9pm to get a beer, watch a game, etc. No one in the place except the staff. When I walked in they told me the kitchen was closed. Off to Baxters I went. Cold beer, good food, games on every tv. I'm not a staff member of Baxter's or any other bar. I've been going there since it changed from Zachary's (what a dump it was then) and it gets better every time. So in closing....try Baxter's out.
Continued bad service...
I was at Baxter's over the weekend and continued to observe terrible service, so I can't figure out how there are some reviews with 5 stars, and some with none. How could there be such differing views on this place? Now this time, I specifically avoided the staff that have been rude to me in the past, and got my drinks from one of the nice and friendly waitstaff. I watched as others at the bar were treated rudely or were seemingly passed over on purpose numerous times. Again, I was treated rudely when I did attempt to order drinks as usual from the bar.
Either there is a "good ole boys" club at Baxters that is off limits to average customers like me, or the "5 star" reviews are biased summaries of this place.
I should point out that the usual rude service takes place in the "big" room, where they usually hold bands or entertainment. Maybe the nice service comes from the other bar?
