Today:
This strip-mall eatery is warm and fluffy on the inside, plating huevos en el estilo de Mexico y Norteamericano. Tile floors and cloth napkins give Biscuits just enough diner personality. The menu is great - imagine a Denny's floating down the Rio Grande: Burritos, burgers, huevos rancheros and pancakes.
The menu is very random because it is filled with very traditional Mexican breakfast dishes as well as traditional American breakfast options.
But don't worry because the Biscuits cooks have mastered both styles. The prices are low and you'll be happy to know the portions are large.
The atmosphere is mediocre and the main reason I didn't give the place 5 stars.
I live a half block away from this place and as strange as it is I cant keep away. If one crossed Charlie Browns (Classic Speedway Diner) with Cancun you would get Biscuits.
When it comes to service, you get what you pay for which is just fine with me.
The crushed ice in my coke is a huge bonus for this spot! I personally am a fan of the eggs benedict. The color of the hollandaise can be a bit unappetizing but upon tasting I was pleasantly surprised. Order a side of toast to sop up the unnaturally colored goodness.
There is a reason this place is always busy...It reminds me of the days when we would take over the smoking section at Perkins after a long night of heavy drinking.
I think of this place as a neighborhood greasy spoon, but the prices are a tad on the high side for that. The food is tasty, but nothing special.
This is an odd place, but I can't knock it for that. I really love the Breakfast Quesodilla - chorizo - potatoes - eggs - queso blanco in a huge quesodilla tortia. It comes with the standard beans and rice but while ususally I hate mexican rice Biscuts is really good.
The actual service hasn't been great but I've only been in around closing time, you can't expect great things around then.
I suppose I should try something else on Biscuits' menu sometime, but I can't seem to get away from their fabulous breakfast chimichanga with the slightly spicy green sauce instead of the basic red (when I remember to ask for it). I hate having to sit at a two-person table because there's never enough room for everything we want to order--we end up removing extraneous table-crap like sugar or jam to another table so we can fit the side orders of pancakes or hash browns along with the huge breakfast plates. I've always found the service to be exceptionally good, with more than one person attending to each table. They're friendly, too, much more often than not. The minor downside for me: if you're going to name a restaurant "Biscuits" you should make killer biscuits, and theirs really aren't that great. But really, who wants to fill up on bread when there's much better things to eat.
