Acapulco Joe's Mexican Foods (365 N. Illinois St., Indianapolis, IN)
    33

I am not very impressed with this place. The service wasn’t very good, our server never even refilled our drinks.

The “salsa” in the sqeeze bottles just plain grosses me out. Why would I want to squirt that watery, too-sweet stuff onto my chips?? They need to offer regular salsa as well. The food is okay, I liked the nachos but the cheese enchiladas were WAY too greasy.

This is def not my first choice when it comes to mexican food.

    P.F. Chang's China Bistro (49 W. Maryland St., Suite 226, Indianapolis, IN)
    6

I was a server PF Changs for almost 5 years. Anything that comes in the meal is listed on the menu. If you want to add extra veggies (or meat even) ask your server. Some of the veggies can be added for free, some cost $1 each to add (mostly the green veggies: asparagus, snap peas, etc). Meat is around $2 or $3 to add I think.

Anyways, PF Changs is a great place to go for americanized chinese. Everything is made to order so you can kind of personalize your meal if you’d like. Also there’s a pretty big selection of vegetarian entree’s and appetizers, which is nice. I still enjoy eating here after being there for 5 years… I think that should say something.

    Moe & Johnny's (5380 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN)
    10

This is one of the best places to hang out, shoot pool, throw back a couple pints (esp on pint night), watch the game, and grab a bite to eat. I’ve never had problems with the service, sometimes its slow but its because the place is bustling (aka: NOT the server’s fault!)

They have a handful of vegetarian selections, which is more than you can say about some places. They have a good selection of beer to accompany your game.

Loon Lake Lodge (6880 E. 82nd St., Indianapolis, IN)
    10

We went for my graduation party and my brother’s birthday to try something different. The service was HORRIBLE and we guessed it was due to the automatic 15% the server was guaranteed. My mom filled out a comment card and never heard anything back (bad move).

The food was alright, pricey for what you get.

We were also dissapointed by the animatronics, we expected something totally cool and they barely moved. Overall, I think there is much too much hype about this place.

    Mug-N-Bun Drive-In (5211 W. 10th St., Speedway, IN)

We used to be OBSESSED with this place in high school. I’m not really sure why, but I have some very fond Mug-N-Bun memories. They brew their own root beer and its pretty good.

Rene's Bakery (6524 Cornell Ave., Indianapolis, IN)

This place has the best desserts ever! The chocolate cake with buttercream icing is amazing, the icing is smooth and creamy and delicious. The lemon tart is probably the best I’ve ever had!! Cookies are delicious and inventive.

    Go there now!

Northside News Cafe (5406 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN)

They have great sandwiches! Lots of vegetarian choices, all yummy. The pesto that’s on most of the sandwiches I’ve had packs a lot of garlic (to me, that’s a good thing). Staff are always super friendly and helpful! Try it out!

    Dagwood's (6336 N. Guilford Ave., Indianapolis, IN)

When I’m bopping around the b-rip, I love to stop in and get a wrap or sandwhich. They have a lot of good toppings to choose from, and so cheap too!! I always love to see more than on vegetarian option on the menu as well. :) Good place for a fast bite!

Can’t beat this place!!! So cheap but so delicious, so fast, so wonderful. I think I’m having a love affair with the spinach mushroom etoufee. Ditto to all above!

Three Sisters Cafe (6360 Guilford Ave., Indianapolis, IN)
    11

I have always had a good experience at Three Sister’s. As a vegetarian, its nice to have so many options on the menu. Also, the food tastes great and is reasonably priced. My favorite is the 3 bean chili. They have a huge list of tea choices as well, if you’re a tea drinker

Service has always been warm and friendly. I like going in the warmer months because its nice to sit out on their porch.

La Piedad Mexican Restaurant (6524 Cornell Ave., Indianapolis, IN)

I love la piedad!! My favorite time to go is during the warmer months, because they have a really nice little poarch with a view of the monon. The food is always good and consistantly tasty. The prices aren’t too shabby either. And the service has always been prompt and friendly.

Kolache Factory (9650 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN)
    4

Kolahes are kind of like rolls with a filling. They are so good!! The location might not be the best, but whenever I’m out that way I stop in for some deliciousness.

The menu is based on availibility, because they are all made fresh. The best thing is that they are super cheap!

Melting Pot (1259 Ind. 135 North, Greenwood, IN)
    7

The melting pot is a great place to take a date. The food is great, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is beautiful. The booths have high back and the room is dimly lit, so it feels like you’re all by yourself. The service was probably the best I’ve ever had.

Buca di Beppo (6045 E. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN)
    5

Bucca is great for large groups of people. I have only been with groups of 5 or more and that’s the way to do it, try a little of everything. Service has always been good, food is excellent.

My favorite is the eggplant parmesan, and the garlic bread is awesome!! If you don’t like garlic, don’t come here.

Rathskeller (401 E. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN)
    10

Nothing beats the Rathskeller during the warmer months of the year! The beergarden is one of my favorite places in Indy.

Great (huge) beers, live music, yummy food. I love the mix of people as well, you meet all types here. This is a great place to go before seeing a show at the Murat as well.
