Brockway Public House (12525 Old Meridian St., Carmel, IN)
As Doberman said, this is THE best pub in Carmel, if not the city. The booze selection and staff are amazing, the ambience is as authentic as it comes, a steel tip dart board, and a great group of regulars, has made The Brock my pub of choice. One caveat however, is please consider a cab, as the popularity of this place has finally given Carmel PD something to do besides wait for the occasional massage parlor raid.

I think I love this place.
Everyone always tells me I have a great time when I’m here.

They don’t even serve panda here. That is soooooo misleading. Someone should sue them for false advertising. I will never eat here again.

Jasmine Thai Restaurant (4825 E. 96th St., Indianapolis, IN)9
Having steamed around the world many times on numerous different aircraft carriers during my 10 years in the Navy, pulling into Thailand was always one of my favorite ports almost exclusively for the food. Because of this I am pretty picky when it comes to my Thai here in Indy, so I was blown away at how amazing Jasmine was compared with the real thing. I have dined here more times than I can count and never had a bad experience.
As another reviewer mentioned, the option of choosing the amount of “heat” you want is a nice touch, because in Thailand they only had two choices:
a) “Hot as Hell”
and
b) “Hey, Let’s See if We Can Make This American Cry, and Crap Lava”
I normally ended up with choice “b” usually washed down with many, many, many formaldehyde laden Tiger beers. The only thing that could make their meals any more authentic would be a few 6 year old prostitutes begging for change and some good kickboxing matches.

Chatham Tap Pub & Restaurant (719 Massachusetts Ave., Indianapolis, IN)
Had a pretty good lunch experience here. The food is your basic Americanized wanna be British cuisine, but pretty tasty. The Rasher Bacon BLT was good, and the friends I was with just had your basic club, and chicken salad sandwiches, with no complaints.
I could really give two shats about acoustics, because if I wanted a quiet meal I’d be at MCL listening to the muted smacking sounds of old people gumming up their tapioca.
Definitely give this joint a try…

Kincaid's (14159 Clay Terrace Blvd., Carmel, IN)1
I was initiated to the Kincaids Happy Hour Club (5:00-7:00) yesterday by a few of my fellow lushes at work, with the promise of 3 dollar glasses of wine, and 3 dollar beers, so how could I say no?
The bar is GORGEOUS (Along with half the waitresses, and it is also extremely Couger/MILF friendly). The best part however is the happy hour menu which has appeteizers normally priced around 8-12 bucks for only 3 dollars as well. Oysters, baked brie, meatloaf sliders, sweet potato fries, calamari, etc. etc. etc…
The only downside, was the fact that our waiter was a complete idiot, but that happens, and really didn’t take away from the experience at all. I just chalked that up to the old axiom “Hire the handicapped, they’re fun to watch.”
Happy dining!

The only acceptable answer as far as I’m concerned is “We had the munchies, and HAD to have jello….”

Mudsocks Grill (14741 Hazel Dell Crossing, Suite 1000, Noblesville, IN)5
After passing this place for months on my way home, I finally couldn’t fight the urge to dine here any longer, and swung in last night with the kids.
The food was awesome, the atmosphere was great, and the prices were fair for the enormous portions you receive. The best part was that although you can tell they are not really shooting for the “With Kids” crowd, they were more kid friendly than most restaurants that do pride themselves on catering towards families with kids.
Add to that fact a nice list of “on taps”, and it was the perfect family dinner. Wednesdays are 5$ martini nights as well…

R Bistro (888 Massachusetts Ave., Indianapolis, IN)3
Being on the complete tail end of Mass Ave., that borders being in the “hood”, this restaurant has as much chance of surviving as Brittney Spears does of not doing something completely mental ever again.
Dressed in a suit, and with 2 very attractive and impeccably dressed clients, we were greeted at the door by a twentysomething host who was compirable with the Maitre’D in “Ferris Buellers Day Off”. After looking at us like we were dressed like the 3 most horribly dressed homeless people he had ever seen, he asked if we had a reservation. We thought he was joking and we actually laughed, because the place had been open an hour and was EMPTY. He then literally rolled his eyes at the fact that we had the audacity to not have a reservation and suggested rather curtly that “…we may want to make one next time…” We’ll make sure to do that next time…Wouldn’t want to have any of the crickets in there waiting for a table..
The food, albeit unique, and tasty, was so ridiculously overpriced it was borderline laughable, unless you would like a $12.00 eggplant panini.
Definitely not worth eating here…It’s not even worth the “Well we tried it” experience…Especially when you have to literally pass YATS to get here.

Hollyhock Hill (8110 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN)4
Chalking up moving to Indiana as “One of those dumb things you do for a girl”, I was always distraught over the fact that by leaving Atlanta, my days of family style fried chicken, slaw, pickled beets, mashed potatos, apple butter, and salad with sweet and sour dressing were pretty much a distant memory, that would soon be replaced with corn on the cob, corn soup, corn bread, corn pone, cream corn, and corn liquor (well actually we had the corn liquor back home too)…
Anyhoo,
A meal at Hollyhock Hill captures “Any given Sunday” south of the Mason-Dixon line, and no matter what time of the year, can warm the heart and gullet of even the most homesick southerner, OR a damn yankee too.

Nickel Plate (8654 E. 116th St., Fishers, IN)2
This place is great. It’s a perfect spot to grab a few coldies after playing 18, as it’s pretty much geocentric between 4 different local golf courses.
The Tenderloin is the best in town, and the service is great, and easy on the eyes.
The only drawback is, and I say this tongue in cheek, is that it is first and foremest a haven for Steelers fans during football season. This is the only place in the city that will turn off the Colts game to put on the Steelers, and to make it even more Steel City friendly, they still serve “Iron City” and “Iron City Light” in a can…God love ’em…

Sangiovese Ristorante (4110 E. 82nd St., Indianapolis, IN)3
I’ve been telling myself I’d like to dine here for almost 6 years, but I always forget about it when deciding where to go, but on Saturday evening, I remembered, and it was worth the wait.
With their outside waterfront patio closed until the spring, the restaraunt really doesn’t hold that many patrons, so even at it’s most crowded, as it was Saturday, it never got so loud you could not think. The lighting is perfect, not too bright, but not so dark you can’t see your food, and the fireplace in the corner just adds to experience.
They are also big local art supporters and the walls are graced with several oil paintings by local artists.
Add to this the live music, which was a 40 something couple singing anything from James Taylor, to Frank Sinatra on acoustic guitar and piano, and you have the makings for a perfect atmosphere to enjoy their amazing cuisine.
As much as I was just expecting your standardized, Americanized, Italian fare, a la Bravo and Bella Vita, I was highly surprised when I saw that the menu was slathered in authenticity. They feature such a diverse amount of traditional Italian pastas that I didn’t know where to begin. They even feature numerous risotto’s and have a daily risotto special as well.
The prices are a little steep, but not obnoxios, and well worth it. The wine list is extensive, and the service was impeccable. So for a quiet Italian night out, I highly recommend it.

Fionn MacCool's Irish Pub (8211 E. 116th St., Fishers, IN)8
Great ambiance…Once you set foot inside, you feel like you left Fishers, and entered Dublin…even down to the soccer matches on the telly.
Great drink specials, awesome Irish cuisine, and the live bands are great.
If the upcoming New Years party is half as fun as it was last year, it’ll still be a hit.

Bonefish Grill (4501 E. 82nd St., Indianapolis, IN)3
This is the 3rd time I have dined here, and everytime the food has been more disappointing than the last. I really, really want to like this place as the service was impeccable and the cocktails were great, but the actual meal was close to horrible. The shrimp appetizer tasted spoiled, the first time my medium rare steak arrived last night, it was burnt to bloody hell, and the second time they brought it out, it was so cold, I swear it must have just come out of the refrigerator.
I know that Bonefish is a chain, and usually I don’t frequent these types of restaurants, but for what they charge you at this glorified “Seafood Applebees”, I would expect the cuisine to be a lot better.

King David Dogs (15 N. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN)9
Best hot-dogs ever. The Chicago Dog, New York Dog, and the South of the Border dog are like processed beef parts and crack. I would rob a liquor store if I ever ran out of money to eat here.
