My wife and I don’t breakfast anywhere else. It’s a little pricey, and sometime the waits are tough, but very worth it.

Out of all the Patachou Resturants and yes there is more than this one. I LOVE to come here not just for the food but to see Caroline & crew

Food is worth the wait. I love the smoked salmon sandwich (11.75). The place is kid friendly, if you can afford to take the kids.

Love the loaded toast with avocado. Love the Hippie with a Benz omelet. LOVE the tomato artichoke soup (with yummy croutons).

They’ve become super eco-friendly and are happily shouting about it. Also, the $4 French Hot Chocolate is worth the moola. Seriously. Hoaglin was my staple downtown breakfast joint till I discovered Patachou… now I can’t decide.

If all other menu items were atrocious the french toast made from croissants would carry the place. It is unbelievable, and though other menu items can be pricey I will never argue with this one, compare it to french toast anywhere and you will be within a couple of dollars and then add on the fruit cup that comes with it, and you have a perfect breakfast and price. They are committed to quality which shows. As a vegetarian I can always find a meal there, but it is not so easy for my vegan girlfriend. It is almost, almost, the perfect spot on a sleepy weekend morn, I say almost because the coffee is way over priced and it is like pulling teeth to just buy a single pour in ceramic without paying for the endless cup. But I still love the place and the servers are like family.

A cute, nicely decorated little cafe, in a spot you might expect a laundromat. The food is great, and they try to use local stuff, which is always cool. The food I’ve had from here is always good, although I couldn’t aford to eat here frequently, the prices are a bit high (around 8-9 for an omlette, not bad for proportion sizes, I’m just cheap). Def. good food though. And the service is usually pretty good too, though last time I was there the waitress seemed to be having an off day. All in all, a great place for brunch.

I love the food at this place! I live near this location so I often get carry out for sunday brunch. My only issue is that when you get food to go the orders are not always right. My roommate often orders the omelette special of the day and requests no meat, but on more than one occasion meat has been in it. Granted, this is a special request on the special, but its still important to do it right if you agree to do it. Other than that all I’ve had is great experiences here!

chic little cafe (particularly love the quirky, piano wall collage there :)).
of all the times i’ve been, the only meal i’ve ever ordered – aside from a salad and coffee (which don’t exactly count as a meal) – is their tomato asparagus/artichoke soup.

it is, hands down, the greatest (healthy!) soup i’ve ever set my lips to.
THAT tasty.

My weekend wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Cafe Patachou at 49th and Penn. The cafe/bistro-like atmosphere is warm and inviting and the wait staff knows their repeat customers on a first-name basis. You can help yourself to a hot cup of coffee in a variety of flavors/strengths while you wait for a seat. Seating proves to be pretty hot real-estate…especially on Sundays. When the post-Church crowd starts filtering in, it’s a people-watcher’s paradise. The room is abuzz with all sorts of interesting conversations, and the friendly patrons will frequently start up a conversation with you.

Once you’re seated, you can look over the menu and admire the local artwork posted on the wall. Patachou’s specialty (in my opinion)is their omelettes. Choose from pre-designed omelettes with catchy names such as “The Overachiever” and “Hippie with a Benz” or create your own from a generous list of interesting ingredients. My personal favorite of the moment is the “Omelette You Can’t Refuse” which is made in support of the Heartland Film Festival. Filled with crunchy bacon, breakfast potatoes, cheese, and sour cream, it’s absolutely delicious. All omelettes come with your choice of toast with jelly/jam or their outstanding Cinnamon toast, and a cup of fresh fruit. If you don’t like omelettes, they have other breakfast options such as Croissant French Toast and Oatmeal with granola. They also have a pretty good selection of lunch items such as BLT’s, egg/chicken/tuna salad, and hearty soups. But my taste buds always draw me back to breakfast.

My one complaint is the sometimes lengthy wait you have to endure, but it’s a necessary inconvenience to preserve the atmosphere. I would like to see more outdoor seating added too. If you’ve got more than 2 people, outdoors seating is out of the questions. All-in-all, it is one of my favorite places in town to eat. I’m constantly torn between introducing new people to to this culinary delight and keeping it as my own little secret.

Karaoke on Sunday nights make this place awesome. Definitely a great time, and some good ( and some really, really bad ) singers.
