With shoe on other foot, Carpenter cries foul

I just finished the newest tirade from Dan Carpenter (“Mighty oaks of umbrage,” Sept. 23). Does this man ever get it?

ACORN is the subject of more than two dozen criminal cases involving voter registration fraud, and the brother of the organization’s founder embezzled over $1 million. Caught on camera, ACORN’s leaders now point fingers at the far right and Fox News.

If all was the same with two exceptions, that ACORN was a group working for the conservatives and the hidden cameras had been in the hands of members of the left, we’d now be hip deep in congressional investigations against ACORN by the Democrats. The witch hunt would be in full cry at CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN.

Weren’t the Democrats the ones who were so worried about the appearance of impropriety when the conservatives were in charge? Now those ideas don’t apply to them.
