Wii Fit, Day 4

I totally cheated on this one. I didn’t do it yesterday at all, and I just told myself last night that I could go home at lunch and do it today.

No big deal. I mean, it’s just, after all, a video game.

Uh, what?

So I slipped off my (pretend) power-woman heels and started with the strength training…in my work clothes.

I did five different exercises: the single-leg extension, push-ups and side plank, torso twists, jacknife and lunge.

Each one wasn’t more than 10 reps, but with my Wii trainer (who I’ve started calling “Chuck” in my head, for some reason), I was actually doing an exercise right for once.

Chuck would tell me to make sure my knee was at a 90-degree angle dring my lunges. He reminded me to breathe so my blood pressure didn’t raise. And he told me how long to hold each one. The balance board told me where I should put my weight. The 30 minutes of strength training with the Wii Fit was probably the most effective 30-minute workout I’ve ever done.

I’ve never had someone tell me what I was doing wrong or right — I’ve just done the exercises. And those ladies in all those workout videos certainly don’t do much to help in that area, either.

I put on my (pretend) power-woman heels and went back to work, and realized my legs were shaky and my stomach was sore.

And I kinda can’t wait to get back home to do it again tonight.
