Why I suck at being a personal shopper

I just got home from attempting to tell a lady I have met twice in my life for a total of 5 minutes, how to dress herself.

After typing that just now I realize how crappy of an idea it was to begin with. I know that if someone I didn’t know, went out with ME and told me everything I was looking at was unflattering and out of style, I’d be pretty pissed. I don’t think I pissed her off by any means but I definitely wouldn’t try doing it again.

This lady has an AMAZING body. Tall, slender, toned, PERFECT. She also thinks that her amazingly perfect body looks good in her “sharp, plaid blazer with shoulder pads.” Ouchhhhhhh… We both agreed she needed help. So I go out to Keystone Mall with her tonight and attempt to pick out some tops and few pairs of dark rinse jeans. All of the sudden, this “fashionista” starts telling not only me, but the people at Nordstrom what SHE thinks is going to be “the next hottest thing.”

Oh ok, crazy lady.

Bottom line, I can’t do it! I can’t handle someone wearing a rainbow knit cardigan from Chico’s dismiss those of us who were actually trying to help. SO, I found this awesome site that acts kind of like a personal shopper but is more tolerant than uhm… me.

Check out www.shopittome.com

Shopittome.com e-mails you with items on sale from numerous websites for the designers you’re interested in and in the sizes you specify.

This site has you create a username/password (but this is a FREE service) and also an online “profile.” Basically you go in and select your pant, top, dress, bra, and underwear sizes along with selecting your favorite designer brands (and NO, chico’s is NOT an option). After you get your personal preferences filled out, let them know often you’d like to receive notifications. I chose to receive them twice a week and selected about 20 designers. You can also select an option to only receive items that are on sale for at least 25 or 50 or 75% off.

Anyway, check it out, let me know what you think. I’ve been a member for 3 weeks now and am loving it! It won’t combine your items into one shopping bag if you buy from different sites but it’s still a great time saver!

Love,

KAY JAY
