Who has the best Bloody Mary in town?
I’m NOT a sugary/sweet/fruity/Sex-and-the-City drink type of girl.
And because of that, I’ve become somewhat of a Bloody Mary snob. I won’t order one unless I see someone else with one first, and, oh man, no one wants one of those bottom-of-the-barrel vodkas poured over chunky drink mix.
So I’m going to go on a Bloody Mary tour of Indianapolis to find the best ones, and I need a little help!
Who has the best Bloody Mary you’ve ever tasted (in town)?
We were separated at birth, I swear. Supposedly McNiven’s has delicious bloody Marys so a fellow Bloody Mary snob says.
I always enjoyed Scholar’s Inn’s BM because I liked the little shrimp shishkabob that comes with it. I haven’t had one there in a few years, but I would say it was the best.

I’m pretty stoked to hear that too. Now McNivens can add Bloody Marys to their “best” list, along with Scotch eggs and the French dip. Dammit! Why did I have to start thinking of food? So hungry …

Yeah, but the Bloody Mary is almost more of a food product, what with the thick juices and the seasonings. And the celery, which, incidentally, I can’t – won’t – eat ( I mean, drink) a Bloody Mary without.
I remember the Union Jack Pub in Speedway as having a great Bloody Mary. We used to fill up on the before heading to the track for practice.

This is easy, Weber Grill. They serve sausage and cheese with it. Enough said.
It pains me to say I had the best Bloody Mary of my life on Saturday – in San Francisco at a place called the Cliff House. It was a homemade mix that had clam juice and chili powder in it, garnished with lime, lemon, green olives AND celery. I’m adding clam juice to mine from now on. Salivating thinking about it now…
