Age:54.

Town:Indianapolis.

Book:“The Neon Bible,” by John Kennedy Toole.

Comment:I was steered toward Pulitzer Prize-winner John Kennedy Toole’s work by a knowledgeable bookstore staffer. This was his first manuscript, written at age 16 and not published until 20 years after his suicide at age 31. The book meanders somewhat, but it shows glimpses of brilliance and remarkable depth for someone so young. I would recommend reading it as a precursor to his Pulitzer-winning “A Confederacy of Dunces.”
