The Westfield City Council will consider but not vote on a proposed smoking ban again Monday.

The smoking ordinance, which Council President Ken Kingshill introduced in May, would ban smoking in all public places, including restaurants, bars, businesses and 80 percent of hotel rooms.

Four members of the council have said they oppose the ban or want a less restrictive one.

Council members listened but did not discuss the proposal during a public hearing on the ban in June.

Most people who spoke during the June public hearing supported the ban, Kingshill said, but several business owners opposed it or suggested a less restrictive ban.
