Two Wayne Township elementary schools will soon have portable classrooms installed.

Due to an increase of more than 440 students, classrooms are scarce.

That is especially true at the elementary level, where the Westside district saw a big increase, especially in full-day kindergarten.

Portable units will be installed at Chapelwood and North Wayne elementaries, according to Cheri O’Day, district spokeswoman.

It hasn’t been determined which classes will move to the units, but they likely would be those with older students or classes for subjects such as art and music, she said.
