Wabash joins Notre Dame in '600' win club
Wabash joined Notre Dame as the only college football programs in Indiana with 600 victories.
The Little Giants beat Allegheny 37-3 this afternoon in Meadville, Pa.
In its 123rd season of football, Wabash is 600-372-59. Notre Dame had 831 victories entering today’s game against Washington.
“I told our guys they’re in good company,” Wabash coach Erik Raeburn said in a news release from the school.
“If you have 600 wins as a football program, that’s a lot of good football players for a long time. I think our guys are proud to be part of the 600th win and be part of a program with that kind of tradition.”
Wabash (4-0) had a field day against 3-1 Allegheny, which had allowed only 13 points in its first three games.
Wabash is only the sixth NCAA Division III school with 600 victories.
“It’s cool being a part of it because of the tradition of Wabash,” senior defensive end Matt Whyde said in a release. “That’s what we all came here to play for and we’re really proud to represent that and represent everybody else who’s played before us.”
