The Indianapolis Colts have moved place-kicker Adam Vinatieri from the physically unable to perform list to their 75-player active roster.

It’s believed Vinatieri made the trip with the team to Cincinnati for tonight’s preseason game with the Bengals.

Vinatieri opened training camp on PUP after undergoing offseason surgery on his right hip and right knee. It was expected the 14-year veteran would be ready for the Sept. 13 regular-season opener, and this is the next step in that direction.

In Vinatieri’s absence during the preseason, Shane Andrus handled place-kicking duties but now faces being released when rosters are trimmed to 53 on Saturday.

Andrus has converted 5-of-6 field-goal attempts in the Colts’ three preseason games.
