Victim of house fire is revived by rescuers
Firefighters resuscitated a man they rescued from a house fire early Tuesday on the Westside.
Michael Sanders, 49, was in critical condition in Wishard Memorial Hospital’s burn unit, Indianapolis Fire Department spokeswoman Capt. Rita Reith said.
Flames were raging through the one-story house at 1808 N. Wilcox St. when firefighters arrived shortly before 2 a.m.
Sanders had collapsed near the front door. Firefighters began resuscitation after determining he was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Sanders responded after about 10 minutes, Reith said in a news release.
The house was a total loss, fire officials said. The cause has not been determined, but arson investigators are looking at a space heater as a possible source of the fire, Reith said.
