Trevor Hall gives interview to WHJE
CARMEL — Carmel High School radio station WHJE-91.3 FM engineered a nice coup when touring recording artist Trevor Hall made an appearance at the studio earlier this month.
Not even sure he would get a response, Carmel High School junior Zane Anderson e-mailed the publicist of Hall, one of his favorite up-and-coming musicians, asking if he would appear before his concert at the Murat Egyptian Room in Indianapolis Oct. 1.
Anderson got the response and the interview for his music show “Big Z and Skinny T’s Indy Breakdown” with co-host Tyler Wright.
The show is normally on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., but was moved to a Thursday that week to do the interview with Hall.
Naturally, Anderson and Wright were thrilled to pick the brain of Hall.
Another show “The Garage” has featured local artists performing live this fall. The show is aired Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
WHJE station manager Brian Spilbeler said the station is unique from other stations in the Indianapolis area because of the diverse music we play.
“We focus on independent artists and newer genres of music,” Spilbeler said in an email to The Star. “Our rotation is not repetitious, rather we pride ourselves on playing different sounds that are not always mainstream. We give the smaller labels and lesser known artists airtime, that they may not get at other stations.”
Spilbeler said students can choose the overall topic of the shows and some have selected music.
