Judging from the trailer (and how much I enjoyed ‘Adaptation’) this could be a pretty sweet movie. I like how they used one of my favorite Arcade Fire songs for the preview:

There’s been some big-time stuff going down with this movie. It’s been completed for I believe more than a year, and the studio supposedly hated it and freaked out and tried to get someone else to re-shoot the movie. I don’t remember all of the details, but I’ll check into them and follow-up post on it.

Here are some of the details on the issues, which include “too scary” and “too weird”:

Aw man, I really hope the Spike Jonze version is still put out no matter what is decided. When movies are changed to be more kid friendly it can really hurt an otherwise good film. On top of that, aren’t there going to be plenty of older people that would want to see this? The book was written in 1963.

Also, I tend to like weird and scary movies. And I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs too!

That was an older posting…my thoughts are that they’re going to finally go ahead with it as-is (or close to as-is). It doesn’t matter whether it’s actually true to the spirit of the book or not…there’s money to be made here!

Never let artistic integrity (or making a good movie) interfere with the possibility of financial gain.

Yeah, it looks like they are going to go ahead with the Spike Jonze version. A new poster was just released. It’s set to open on October 16th. That’s a relief.
