Many routes are reopening after today’s explosion at I-465 and I-69 on the Northeastside.

Emergency crews continue their response to a propane tanker explosion, which occurred this morning at the I-465 and I-69 interchange. State transportation officials are warning motorists to plan extra time and stagger their commutes in anticipation of congestion on alternate routes.

Here is an oultine of the interstate issues, which motorists should keep in mind for the morning rush hour:

Traffic northbound on I-465 on the Eastside will be restricted to that traffic which is going to continue northbound on I-69.

I-465 westbound from I-69 will remain closed.

Traffic eastbound on I-465 on the north side will be rerouted onto U.S. 31.

East of Allisonville Road , no traffic will be allowed on I-465.

Traffic southbound on I-69 will be allowed to travel westbound onto I-465 West or southbound on Binford Boulevard, but not southbound to I-465 South.

In Noblesville, the main east-west road through the community — Ind. 32-38 — was experiencing extremely heavy traffic as motorists tried to avoid I-465.

Mayor John Ditslear’s office is asking Noblesville residents traveling within the city to avoid those roads, according to a news release from the city. Ditslear temporarily has outlawed parking on both sides of Conner Street and Ind. 32, according to the release.

INDOT also reports these changes since the explosion.

>>I-465 North to I-69 North has reopened.

>>Southbound I-69 is open to I-465 West.

>>A restriction at Anderson routing traffic onto Ind. 9 and sending them south to I-70 — has been lifted in last hour.

>>All exits on the Indianapolis Eastside reopened, including Pendleton Pike and 56th Street exits.

One of the busier sites on the Northeastside, Castleton Square Mall, was a concern for some people wanting to go shopping.

“I’m sure it’s safe to say (Castleon Square Mall) has been affected,” said Simon Property Group spokesman Les Morris. “But I haven’t heard of any major gridlock around the mall.”

Here is some commuting advice from a chat earlier this afternoon.

I-69 at 106th Street, Fishers

Fishers Police Department Sgt. Randy McFarland said about 4 p.m. that traffic is “flowing freely” on I-69, from where he’s sitting at 106th and Lantern.

I-70 to Olio Road alternative east of Indianapolis

Many people are suggesting this alternative for traffic from the Northeastside to Downtown: Take North Hancock County Road 600 West to Pendleton Pike, then to the I-465 South exit and south to I-70 West.

From 146th Street and Ind. 37, Noblesville

Greg Seiter of AAA writes: Depending on your final southbound destination and assuming you can get to I-465 from Hamilton County, I would advise taking I-465 West with possible alternative routes that might include Michigan Road or even I-465 itself all the way around. Consider, however, that I-465 on Indianapolis Westside is usually pretty busy around the airport during rush hour, thanks, in part, to construction under way.
