How many followers do most people really have on Twitter? The average number of both followers and other members people on Twitter are following is about 70, according to the State of the Twittersphere, a new report by Web marketing startup HubSpot. But that average is skewed by elite Twitterers who have hundreds or thousands of followers. The vast majority of people on Twitter use it to keep in touch with a much smaller circle of friends and peers. For those with 50 or fewer followers (three quarters of all users), the average number of followers is 15.6 and the average number of people they are following is 18.4.

Man, I can’t stand twitter. I am following 75 people who I could care less what they’re doing, and I have 23 people following me (I also doubt they care what I’M doing).

It’s not easy to navigate and you can’t type more than 4 words on each update you want to send out.

Sorry, I’m done venting. :-) I feel better now.

Supposedly there’s a way to integrate Twitter into Facebook – but I don’t know how.

I actually have my Twitter set up to update my status on Facebook or whatnot. Now I can’t figure out how to get it back off… :-(

I like the immediacy of twitter.

I still think it sounds dirty…sometimes I don’t think I can keep up with the MySpace, Facebook, Linked in, Skype,e-mail, blogs and everything else everyone wants me to be part of. Who needs to be that connected? I am still the only American who uses their cell phone as a clock most of the time. I am so behind the times!

It’s a generational thing, so don’t sweat it. If you’re a boomer, you’re less likely to be interested in stuff like that.

I actually like Twitter… It’s easy though, to feel like you got PLAYED (trans: ignored) using it. The trick is to make sure the people you’re following are also following YOU back. You follow + they follow = FRIENDS. You’ve gotta get that part to make it work for you.

Then why use Twitter to talk to local people? Why not meet new people? Sharpen your vocab and post something interesting…

Just my take.
