Tips for traveling green
More than half of travelers consider themselves to be environmentally conscious, according to the U.S. Travel Association, though most don’t know the specific steps they can take to travel green. In honor of Earth Day, Orbitz offers this advice:
Book hotels that have earned the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star rating. That means they use at least 40 percent less energy than average buildings and emit 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Book a hybrid rental car to reduce emissions while on the road and save gas.
Offset your flight’s carbon emissions with a donation to www.Carbonfund.org, an organization that supports viable renewable energy development, re-forestation projects and other such initiatives.

A new book called The Beatles’ London: A Guide to 467 Beatles Sites in and around London (Interlink Books, $20) can help you pick up the trail of the Fab Four. The book shows you where they performed and recorded; where they lived; where they filmed movies, press pictures and album covers; and even where they ate, partied and married.
