The star let the world know she was leaving American Idol before Fox released an official statement Wednesday morning. "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to Idol. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all, being a part of a show that I helped from day1 become an international phenomenon."
The Idol host announced the departure of NBC exec Ben Silverman ahead of an announcement from the network on July 27. "Guy that runs NBC — put Office, Biggest Loser, etc. on is leaving to launch a new studio."
Elizabeth Taylor
The actress let her fans know that she wouldn't be attending Michael Jackson's memorial service July 7. "I cannot be part of the public whoopla," she wrote. "I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event."
The real estate heiress went public with her July 15 engagement to publisher Jared Kushner online the next day. "I got engaged last night. Truly the happiest day of my life!!!"
The actress revealed she was having knee surgery in a Tweet June 16. "Lying on a guerney. Drugs are starting to hit. Wheeee. So long left knee. You're toast!"
The athlete introduced the newest addition to his family on June 4: "Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!"

The star announced the birth of her son, Kenzo Lee Hounsou, on May 30. Dad is actor Djimon Hounsou. "It's a boy! Thanks to everyone out there for all your well wishes!"
