There's snow in the basketball schedule

Spring may disappear on Sunday, just in time to remind basketball fans what Indiana weather is really all about.

In a change that seems like a 21st-century renewal of the legendary basketball tournament bad weather curse, snow is in the National Weather Service forecast for Sunday. An approaching cold front will drop temperatures from 59 today to 54 tomorrow and 43 on Sunday.

The Weather Service calls for a chance of precipitation all weekend, but forecasters are saying there’s a chance of snow showers on Sunday afternoon. Sunday is the day for the NCAA Division One men’s basketball regional final at Lucas Oil Stadium, which means there’s a possibility that fans who wear sweaters when they head to tonight’s games might need coats to walk to Sunday’s contest.

Snow would maintain the legend of bad weather during basketball tournament time in Indiana, except this would come during the college tournament, instead of during the high school tournament where the legend began. The high school finals will be played tomorrow, before the snow showers are expected to arrive

The cold weather ends on Sunday, and Monday will see a return to seasonal weather with a high of 58.
